Working from a Coffee Shop: Koupa Espresso Bar in Haddon Twp

A family-owned Greek-inspired coffee shop? Yes please! I took a trip to Koupa Espresso Bar in Haddon Twp for my latest “Working from a Coffee Shop” Series.

When you walk in the door of this friendly cafe, be sure to say hi to Elini, Mina, and Essi Anastasopoulos. The cousins operate the counter of Espresso Coffee Bar where they serve beans from only the very best Square Mile(UK) and Chicago-based Intelligentsia coffee for their barista-made drinks.

In addition to classic coffee options, they offer popular Greek drinks like Freddo espressos and cappuccinos (espresso poured over ice with the cold froth milk), and traditional Greek coffee.

Eleni Anastasopoulos has spent her life in both her native Greece and in New Jersey where she resides now with her family in Cherry Hill. Her coffee shop is inspired by her grandfather’s coffee shop in the village of Skala in Greece where she grew up.

Coffee Drink #1: Matcha Peach Iced Tea

Yes, it was as amazing as it sounds. I love Matcha, and they have plenty of matcha inspired options.

If you make the trip to Koupa Espresso Bar, make sure to save room for food. They have traditional Greek options like their famous “Grandma’s Village Spanakopita” which is made on the premises with their homemade dough, their AMAZING baklava which sells out quickly, Galaktoboureko(Greek confection of phyllo and custard), Grandma”s Oven Traditional Tiropita (feta cheese pie), and much more. Her father, Dimitri who worked as a chef at The Coastline in Cherry Hill for 20 years, can be seen in the back prepping paninis, soup and other menu items.

They also have plenty of Vegetarian, Vegan, and Gluten-Free options.

While I was there I enjoyed their Greek Avocado Toast, avocado toast topped with feta and tomato.

Other food options include smoothies, protein shakes, stuffed vine/grape leaves, and a refridgerator full of imported Greeks specialties like Cretamel Sesame bars, Petit-Beurre Papadopoulos Biscuits, Sparta Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Imported Honey, Orino Soft Nougat, and more.
