Working from a Coffee Shop: King’s Gambit Coffee in Belvidere

With a focus on premium coffee and artisan loose leaf tea, King’s Gambit Coffee located in the business district of Belvidere is a must-stop location in Warren County. They are a family-owned business that takes great pride in roasting fresh Arabica beans from around the world at their micro-roastery.

Open since September 2019, King’s Gambit Coffee offers a different experience than your average cafe. With quality coffee, a unique space, and excellent customer service they stand out as one of the better independent coffee shops in NJ.

Joe and Laura Kennedy opened their cafe when they moved to Joe’s hometown of Belvidere. After working in technology for 12 years, Joe wanted to make a change in his career. His business proposal focused on creating a community coffee shop that would be special to the town.

The interior uses a Scandinavian design concept with a combination of beauty, simplicity, and functionality. With Laura’s background in plants and landscape architecture, indoor plants accessorize the decor by putting oxygen back into the space adding a sense of nature inside.

Beverage #1: The Chagaccino

The Chagaccino stood out to me on their menu since I have never seen anything like it at any of the coffee shops I’ve been to. Often referred to as the “King of Mushrooms”, chaga is an exceptional ingredient for overall wellness.

The Chagaccino basically appeals to any food allergy and restriction since it’s plant-based, vegan, and keto-friendly. I enjoyed this drink iced with hemp milk which is their preferred way of preparing it. And no, it doesn’t taste like mushrooms. It was one of the best things I’ve had at a cafe.

Tea options at King’s Gambit range from green to white, oolong, herbal, and seasonal. They also make crafted tea beverages like a matcha tea latte, chai tea latte, and a duchess grey tea latte to name a few.

Their coffee is carefully chosen to give you an enhanced experience than what you’re used to. Coffee options include drip, cold brew, and nitro cold brew on tap as well as espresso, lattes, flat whites, mocha, and more.

Beverage #2: Maple Cinnamon Latte (Decaf)

This seasonal latte is a DELIGHT and is perfect for Fall made with pure maple syrup, a shot of cinnamon syrup, and their Navigator Coffee.

Coffee and tea are available in the cafe or at their online shop. But trust me, you’ll want to visit King’s Gambit Coffee in person.
