Working from a Coffee Shop: California Cold Co. in Manalapan

Located off of Route 9 in Manalapan, NJ (Monmouth County), California Cold Co is a destination to get excellent craft coffee, acai bowls, and avocado toast. It is great for my “Working from a Coffee Shop ” series because they encourage people to work there with free WiFi and outlets.

The grand opening of this local coffee shop was in June of 2018. Despite first impressions, California Cold Co is not a chain or a franchise, it’s a stand alone location in New Jersey (for now).

Co-owners Kristine Annunziata, Monmouth County native, and her husband Eric Coleman moved to Southern California six years ago to pursue Coleman’s career in travel photograph before moving back to NJ. A love of California and coffee inspired the look and vibe of the shop. All photography featured in the shop was taken by Eric Coleman.

Beverage #1: Coranado Latte

I couldn’t resist this latte combined with espresso, cookie butter(!) and choice if milk.

Califronia Cold Co has a lot of creative lattes, including their popular Pebble Beach Latte made with Espresso and their homemade fruity-pebbles infused milk. Also popular is their La Jolla Latte crafted with espresso cinnamon, sweet milk, vanilla, and choice of milk. NJIB Tip: Their secret menu includes the 405, a latte that uses cookie butter and nutella.

Their coffee menu features a hybrid blend of Kona coffee. They make their own blends and espresso from a private roaster and sell it in house. They also sell t-shirts, hats, and La Jolla and Pebble Beach scented candles.

Beverage #2: Berry Hibiscus Iced Tea

California Cold Co uses Stash tea, an Oregon based tea supplier.

In addition to beverages, they are a great place for breakfast and lunch! They sell avocado toast, oatmeal, and acai bowls. Their acai bowls are very popular and don’t have any added juices. Their avocado toast is a new addition and features the popular Presely (peanut butter, banana, almond slices, chia seeds, and honey drizzle) and the Monroe (marscapone, fig butter, crushed pistachios, balsamic glaze, drizzle).

Beverage #3: Melrose (iced) (to go)

Matcha, honey, and green tea latte. Soooooo good! The fact that I had 3(!) beverages and each were excellent is a the best review I can give it.
