Working from a Coffee Shop: Frappe Joe Coffee in Edison

Open since October 2019, Frappe Joe Coffee is definitely one of the more unique coffee shops I’ve been to. With Meditteranean and old-world flavors and spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, clove, chicory, rose, and mint you’ll experience coffee in a brand new way.

Located in Edison on Route 27, close to the Menlo Park Mall,  Frappe Joe’s coffee isn’t just coffee…it’s an experience. Their mission statement is “the journey of our Specialty Bean begins within the soil from around the world which produces very distinct sensory notes and flavors each specific to that region, altitude, and processing method. The various character traits become the fabric of the coffee fruit and are extracted by your Frappe Joe Coffee Barista during the brewing process. Like a fine wine, a lot of care and attention to detail goes into brewing your Cup here at Frappe Joe.”

Beverage #1: Cold Brew with Pumpkin Spice

I kicked off Autumn at Frappe Joe’s with a cold brew made with their own pumpkin spice flavoring. Their Cold Brew is an 18-hr house reciple with notes of chocolate, chicory, and cardamom. It is just one of a few beverages they have on tap which also includes a nitro cold brew, nitro latte, Italian cream soda, cold steep tea, and more.

While placing my order I couldn’t help but notice their delicious homemade donuts. They offer glazed, frosted, cake, and donuts filled with fruit or cream. I hadn’t had a donut in a long time but I couldn’t resist an American Beauty donut (made with rose and cardamom).

It was incredible.

The American Beauty flavor profile is also used as a basis for one of their special coffee blends. If you’re into coffee from all over the world, Frappe Joe’s has an eclectic list of options such as their Indian Mansooned Malabar (Single origin, sea salt, whiskey wood, earthy nut), Baba Budan (infused with house-made clove base), New Orleans (infused with house-made chicory base), and Spice Mill (white chocolate with brown spice notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom & clove), and their very own house blend (Cocca nibs, burnt sugar, sweet tobacco).

Beverage #2: Passion Fruit Peach Tea Shaker

When I arrived at Frappe Joe’s, their tea shakers really stood out to me. Available on tap, I sampled several great options and landed on their Passion Fruit Peach, which was sweet (but not too sweet), and packed with flavor.

Frappe Joe’s has a full stacked menu which features lattes, espresso, a slow steeped chai latte, matcha, cappuccino, tea (black, green, and herbal), milk (turmeric, rose, and a house hot chocolate), and of course FRAPPES.

Their blended frozen frappes come as fruit, espressos, and matcha.

I worked at Frappe Joe’s for so long that I ended up eating lunch there…and a good thing too since they have a great menu. From vegan, gluten-free, and everything in between it’s easy to find something to eat there. Their full menu includes toasts, breakfast sandwiches, salads, soups, bakery items, and more.

I enjoyed a Coffee Rubbed Chicken pita, which I ordered with avocado, tomato salad, and a homemade sauce.

I highly recommend it.

Overall this is the perfect place for coffee, breakfast, lunch, etc, and most importantly (for me) a great place to get some work done.
