Working from a Coffee Shop: The Twisted Tulip in Livingston, NJ
Located in the Shoppes of Livingston, the Twisted Tulip Cafe is a great coffee shop that offers indoor and outdoor seating – and most importantly free WiFi for this blogger who had a lot of work to get done while she got caffeinated.
Owners Debbie Schofel and Eric Cohen, longtime residents of Livingston, opened the Twisted Tulip Cafe in late 2019. Since the Covid measures which started back in March of 2020, like all businesses they’ve had to pivot. Luckily the community has embraced them, and business could continue past their initial 6 months pre-Covid. One of the adjustments they made was getting access to their neighboring storefront, a previous bank, allowing more space for customers. They also added outdoor heaters to their lawn to allow customers to hang outside in colder months, and curbside pick up.
Popular coffee and tea items you’ll find at the Twisted Tulip include their hand-crafted coffee available as fresh drip, pour-over, & cold brew, fresh matcha, creative lattes like their Tulips’ Fog (Earl Grey & Vanilla Bean tea concentrate with choice milk), cold brew tea options like Jasmine Green, Twisted Tulip Tea, Strawberry Tulsi Herbal, and Root Beer Herbal, hot chocolate, and more.
Drink #1: Matcha Tea Latte (cold)
Food options at the cafe include crossaints which are baked in-house daily, chia pudding, chocolate chip banana bread, scones, and energy bites.
One of my favorite things about the Twisted Tulip Cafe is that they do everything in-house; from their homemade syrups (which they also sell!) to their baked goods like their popular chocolate chip cookies and blueberry and strawberry muffins (all made with love by Debbie). I had to get a blueberry muffin while I was there.
I also love that they keep it local! They incorporate local goods like baked goods from A Butter Life Bakery and marshmallows from Jersey Gal Creations.
You’ll also enjoy their murals done by local artist @theartofsnowone
Drink #2: Tulip’s Fog (hot) – (do not judge artwork, I asked for almond milk)
