Working from a Coffee Shop: The Union Cafe in Lakehurst

While looking for a place to get some work done in Ocean County, I discovered the Union Cafe. This cute and popular family run cafe in Lakehurst has a great vibe and free WiFi, two qualities I look for in a coffee shop.

Beverages you can expect to find at the Union Cafe include coffee, espresso, lattes, matcha lattes, chai lattes, hot chocolate, tea, and seasonal favorites.

Beverage #1: Tea Latte, Coconut Creme

The Union Cafe uses the Art of Tea, a tea importer from Los Angeles that sources tea from local farmers all around the world. The Tea Latte can be made with any of their teas that the cafe has in stock.

The cafe also has a menu for breakfast and lunch which include frittatas, waffles (sweet and savory options), sandwiches, salads, and baked items like muffins, cookies, banana bread, and more.

They also offer samples!

Beverage #2: Decaf Coffee with shot of maple

Feeling on a caffeine high, I decided to get a decaf coffee. Because it was Fall, I decided to get a shot of maple (switching it up from pumpkin) for the extra flavor. I also ended up ordering one of the samples I had tried earlier, the apple cider loaf.

I was not expecting it to be a freshly made cup that came with my own little carafe. It was a pleasant surprise that added to the quality of my experience at the Union Cafe.

This is definitely a place I’d visit often if I lived closer! And considering how packed it was during our visit it’s clearly a popular local hangout.
