Working from a Coffee Shop: Jersey Girl Cafe in Hamilton
One of NJ’s secret dining gems is the Jersey Girl Cafe, located off of Route 33 in Hamilton, NJ.
Jersey Girl Cafe is owned and operated by Kathy Rana, a former computer programmer who left the tech world behind to open this cafe. Though this is not advertised as a place where you can work, they do offer free WiFi…so I got some work done for a couple of hours.
The coffee portion of the cafe offers drinks like an Espresso, Macchiato, and specialty options like their Nutty Irishman Latte (Irish Cream Syrup, Hazelnut, Whipped Cream, Caramel drizzle). They use coffee from local coffee roaster Benfatto Roasters from Hillsborough, NJ.
Beverage #1: Almond Chai Latte (Hot)
As a fan of chai lattes, I enjoyed the Jersey Girl Cafe’s spin on it! Their Almond Chai latte is made with Almond Syrup, their own Chai Mix, Whipped Cream and dusted with cinnamon.
A very cool bit of trivia; Jersey Girl Cafe has been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives for their spin on a steak sandwich and chicken panini.
Items you can find on their food menu include items like their buster sandwiches (breakfast sandwiches with a hash brown on the sandwich), breakfast tacos, cinnamon French Toast, yogurt parfaits made with their own granola, salads, lots of sandwiches, homemade soup, and more. Bonus: breakfast is served all day!
I decided to get the “Beach Body Wrap”, but instead of a wrap, I had it as a panini instead. The Beach Body is made with egg whites, organic spinach, turkey sausage, and mango salsa.
It’s important to note that ingredients for the cafe are sourced from local farms and vendors. Gluten and dairy-free menu items are available, as well as vegan specialties.
Jersey Girl Cafe also offers monthly Test Kitchen items, featuring specials for the month. The month had garlic parm fries (or tots), a St. Paddy’s panini, and a hair of the dog breakfast bowl.
Beverage #2: Raspberry Cheesecake Cappuccino
I couldn’t resist the description! And look how pretty.
They also sell their own sauces and spreads and baked goods to go. How I resisted a tiramisu brownie is beyond me.
I did order the Wakiki Wow Smoothie (pineapple, mango, coconut) smoothie as my snack to go. I added spinach because with that combo you don’t taste it. Points for being healthy.
