Working from a Coffee Shop: Properly Fueled in Bordentown, NJ

Located in the heart of downtown Bordentown sits a unique cafe called Properly Fueled. The concept was founded by mother and daughter team Denise and Aubrie Evans who have lived in the area for over two decades. In an area lacking in healthy restaurant options, they created a fast and casual establishment that offers farm-fresh ingredients for a fair price.

Part of their mission was to create a concept that hadn’t been done before in their community. According to their mission statement (which you can find on their website) – “In our local area no one was offering farm-fresh ingredients for a fair price. No one was educating families about nutrition, and no one was offering the kind of delicious food that we love to cook at home. We decided to change that.”

Beverage #1: Purple Drink

This seasonal beverage is made with hibiscus tea, pineapple juice, lime and stevia. It was the perfect beverage for a hot day.

Properly Fueled has a wide variety of gluten-free, vegan, paleo, organic, local, and seasonal options. Items you’ll find on their menu include salad, soup, shakes, and breakfast grains like oatmeal and granola. Their menu includes healthy options that favor local produce and sustainable protein.

They have partnered with local businesses to ensure the highest quality of ingredients. Businesses include Fernbrock Farms in Chesterfield, local honey from Bob’s Buzzy Bees, meat and eggs from Natures Own Farm, and dairy products from Fulper Family Farmstead in Lambertville.
