Park 27 Diner in Linden: Review
Sometimes when you read a lot of great yelp reviews, you want to drive out of your way to visit a place. This is what happened when I went to visit the Park 27 Diner in Linden, NJ. Of course I would have visited it regardless since my goal is to visit every diner in New Jersey…but still. Solid reviews help!
The Park 27 Diner is located on St. Georges Ave in Linden, across from a nice, big park; Warinaco Park. It’s super accessible by major highways.
I went on a particularly crappy weather day, so I was in need of soup from standing out in the cold and the rain. Luckily, the diner makes homemade soup! I started my meal with a vegetarian Split Pea soup, which came with croutons on the side (which was a nice touch!).
After I got over my immediate hunger, I perused the big menu filled with many interesting items. Here are some menu items that stood out: A NY Strip Steak with 2 eggs for $15, a pastrami omelette, oreo cookie pancakes, their Greek sampler (Spinach pie, stuffed grape leaves, feta cheese, tomato, Cucumber, Onions & Olives), empanadas (chicken or beer), and of course the “Park 27 Burger (10 oz burger, bacon and onion rings on a hard roll). There is A LOT to choose from, and they also have fruit smoothies and frozen non-alcoholic drinks. Pina Colada anyone?
Since I was pretty full from my soup, I ordered a panini off of their specials menu (chicken, portobello mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, peppers) which happened to come with my soup! A big meal for under $10? Score!
I really enjoyed the food at the diner, and it helped that they had a friendly waitstaff. They owner, who was manning the register, was also very kind! Considering we were there on a weekday afternoon in the rain, and the diner has their regulars there, I can safely say that they get a lot of repeat business.
Nice clean diner, friendly staff, good food with good prices? It was definitely a good find!
