There are plenty of New Jersey Earth Day events this weekend that you can attend and ways to get involved in your local community. From outdoor activities to educational workshops and volunteer opportunities, there are events for everyone to enjoy.

Collingswood Green Festival
April 18, 9 am – 2 pm

Celebrate spring and all things green by joining your friends and neighbors at Collingswood’s Annual Green Festival, located just off Haddon Ave on Irvin Ave near the PATCO High-Speed line. Enjoy Local sustainable food, organic gardening, water conservation, renewable energy, environmentally-friendly construction, and more. You will also get an opportunity to learn about smart green living from local activists and experts. Activities for kids include a Fun Zone featuring face painting, sidewalk chalk drawing, games, arts and crafts, and more

Earth Day Community Volunteer Day
April 18, 10 am – 12 pm

Join the Brookdale Park Conservancy on Saturday, April 18, from 10AM to 12PM for a community volunteer event. The plan is to plant up to 1000 native sedges by the pondside in honor of Earth Day.

Hoboken’s Earth Date Gate Sale
April 18, 10 am – 2 pm

Join the City of Hoboken and the Hoboken Green Team for a citywide gate sale in celebration of Earth Day! The community event allows residents to sell secondhand items right from their gates or stoops, promoting reuse, reducing landfill waste, and supporting sustainability. An interactive map of participating homes will guide shoppers throughout Hoboken. Residents who don’t have access to a stoop or gate are also welcome to participate! Residents will be permitted to set up a table in Church Square Park to sell their gently used items.

Earth Day Open House
April 18, 10 am – 2 pm

The Park System invites family and friends of all ages to celebrate Earth Day at the Huber Woods Environmental Center. Events include live animal shows, and guided nature and history walks. Plus, bring a gently used nature book you no longer read and exchange it for a reading adventure that is new to you

Cape May Earth Day Celebration
April 18, 10 am – 3 pm

The Cape May County Park and Zoo is the ideal spot for a day packed with fun and discovery, especially during this year’s Earth Day Celebration themed “Seas the Moment: Protect Our Oceans.” This free, family-friendly event runs from 10 AM to 3 PM and offers hands-on educational exhibits, nature walks, live entertainment, eco-friendly vendors, and the opportunity to explore the zoo. It’s a joyful celebration of our planet, focused on learning how to protect and preserve it.

Earth Day Beach Cleanup
April 19, 10 am – 12 pm

Help us clean our coastline of trash and plastic debris while enjoying the beach near Sandy Hook Bay. Please bring your own gloves; trash bags and other tools will be supplied.

Spring Festival and Earth Day Celebration
April 19, 11 am – 4 pm

Celebrate Earth Day at the Spring Festival with a day full of educational exhibits, hands-on activities, and family-friendly entertainment. Guests can explore free Earth Day exhibits and presentations while enjoying colonial craft demonstrations such as glass making, pottery, hearth cooking, and spinning and weaving. The festival also features farm animals, kids crafts and games, live music, craft vendors, food trucks, and a magic show. Visitors can take part in guided Battlefield Tours and Whitall House Tours for a deeper look into the area’s history, making it a fun and engaging day for the whole family.

Party Like It’s Your Earth Day!
April 19, 12 pm – 4 pm

Join Sustainable Princeton and Morven Museum & Garden for a day of sustainable, Earth-friendly fun. Enjoy yoga on the lawn with Gemma from Gratitude Yoga, garden tours of Morven’s historic gardens, a “Trashion” fashion show, DJ Myricks, community educational organizations, an all-ages book swap, a Helpsy Clothing drive, food trucks, prizes, and so much more.

Earth Day Planting
April 22, 5 pm – 6:30 pm

Help us restore our native maritime forest. By planting native plants, your actions will provide valuable food and shelter for local wildlife! Plants are in limited supply, so this program will be under a first come, first serve basis.

Buy Nothing Exchange!

Join Collingswood for a community Buy Nothing Exchange: a fun and sustainable way to pass along items you no longer need and discover something new. Organized by the Borough of Collingswood and the @telfaircollective, this community event will allow residents to share gently used items, reduce waste, and support a culture of reuse. Everything is free and open to everyone!

Earth Day Hike

The event is sponsored by the Holmdel Environmental Commission and CILU (Citizens for Informed Land Use). Arrive early before 11AM for a 2 mile Greenway walk, led by the pros!
