New Jersey Diner Review #307: The Chester Diner

It’s been a long time since my last diner review. In fact, this diner review was originally supposed to be published in October of 2020. But due to my lack of awareness of time and procrastination due to quarantine fatigue…I am just getting around to this in February 2021.

I could have just ignored this article and moved on, but sadly a lot of diners have closed in the past year due to COVID-19 and I want to give them their respect. I have reviewed over 300 diners and I deeply value NJ Diners and their history in NJ. So regardless of how short the review will be…I will be posting diner reviews for the next 3 weeks. Get excited.

ANYWAY

Back in October of 2020, I took a trip to Chester, NJ for a lovely day outdoors. Of course, I had to check out the local diner for lunch, since I usually try to visit a new diner every time I’m far from home. Currently, the Chester Diner is open for indoor dining and take out.

The Chester Diner is as simplistic as possible – with an easy, unintimidating menu and food that comes out quickly. What else could you possibly want in an NJ Diner?

As short as their menu is (it’s one page double-sided), they have some interesting options that include Virginia Ham and eggs, banana nut pancakes, fried chicken, meat lasagna, chicken Szechuan, spinach pie, and a decent list of salads, sandwiches, and burgers.

In the end, we decided to do take-out since it had been a long day and we were excited to go home. We kept our ordering simple –

A chicken gyro for me…

and a turkey burger for my husband.

We enjoyed it as soon as we got home, and it was good!

A short review, and yet I covered basically everything you need to know about this diner.

Remember: support your local diner!!
