Diner Round Up – Prestige Diner in New Providence

The Prestige Diner in New Providence is a great little diner I got to visit with friends. This should not be confused with the Prestige Diner in East Windsor…they are not the same owners and the diners are very different.

We had a very friendly waitress who appreciated our table’s love of pickles (no cole slaw, please!) and gave us a nice plate full of them rather than a pickle per plate. Now that’s customer service!

The diner is on the pricier side, so deciding what to get was a little difficult. They did offer dinner specials though, but apparently only on the weekends so we did not get to take advantage of that.

When we got there we had just come from a beer festival, so we were craving carbs to soak up the alcohol. I had been getting a lot of sandwiches lately so I was trying not to get another sandwich…but…

I got the “Goat Cheese Panini” – Chicken, Goat Cheese, Roasted Peppers and PESTO. You had me at pesto…

The sandwich was almost $11, which I personally think is high, but the sandwich was huge and it came with a lot of fries. You don’t see goat cheese too often on a diner menu, so the goat cheese and pesto combo made the price point worth it for me. It was delicious.

I will also add that despite the fact that the panini had sauce and cheese, the bread was not soggy. That is impressive!

This diner also caters to gluten-free allergies as well as vegetarians which I think is a nice bonus. They also do all of their baking, including boasting a homemade challah french toast which I wish I also could have had. Maybe another time…

Overall, it’s a cute, clean local diner and I think it’s worth checking out.
