Fingers crossed that it doesn’t snow all weekend because there are great events happening like the return of the Fire and Ice Festival, Wassailing the Apple Trees in Princeton, the annual Clinton Bon Fire, and more. Time to bundle up and leave the house to explore what NJ has to offer (or not, you do you). Here are my top ten picks for January 28-30,  2022.

Let It Glow a Holiday Lantern Spectacular

The Friends of the Bergen County Zoo are pleased to announce that a brand new winter event is happening! Let it Glow – A Holiday Lantern Spectacular. This Extraordinary event is located inside the Bergen County Zoo. Let it Glow is a symphony of vivid glowing colors to tease your eyes and dazzle the mind. Come and enjoy an enchanting stroll throughout the zoo. These larger-than-life lanterns are amazing in picture but stunning in person! With over 30 scenes, these hand-made artistic wonders are more breath-taking than the last!

WinterFest Ice Skating at Cooper River
January 27 – January 30

WinterFest Ice Skating at Cooper River Park presented by the Camden County Board of Commissioners will open from now until February 21 at Cooper River Park near the corner of Cuthbert Blvd. and Park Avenue in Cherry Hill.
Hours of Operation:
Thursdays: 5 PM – 9 PM
Fridays: 5 PM – 10 PM
Saturdays: 12 PM – 10 PM
Sundays: 12 PM – 9PM

Mount Holly Fire & Ice Festival 2022
January 29, 10AM – 4PM

2022 will be the 29th Mount Holly Fire & Ice Festival & the committee has been planning all year to hold this free family friendly event, filled with ice carvers lining the streets carving 300 lb blocks of ice into works of art. The fire will be provided by the chili cook off where the area’s best & brightest chefs go head to head and the public gets to take a taste & give their vote. Plus there will be exhibits, vendors, animals, music, plenty of food & adult beverages & a great reason to visit downtown Mount Holly.

Brook Hollow Winery Bake Off
January 29, 1PM – 4PM

This FREE event will take place during regular tasting hours, on Saturday January 29th. The desserts will be judged by winery patrons. Dessert tastings will begin at 1pm and conclude at 3pm. The winners will be announced at 4pm. All desserts MUST incorporate a Brook Hollow Wine

Clinton Yuletide Bonfire
January 29, 5PM

The Town of Clinton Bonfire is an annual event that brings together town residents of all ages for an evening of warmth and community. Local families can escape from their winter hibernation for a night surrounded by friends, hot chocolate, carriage rides, and most importantly, a giant bonfire.

Wassailing the Apple Trees
January 30, 1PM – 4PM

Raise a glass of hot cider with as Terhune Orchards honors the trees that give us their wonderful apples. The ancient British tradition of wassailing the apple trees to protect them from harm is a popular winter celebration at Terhune Orchards that you won’t want to miss. Activities include singing, dancing and playing of primitive instruments, toasts of hot cider, and placing gifts of cider-soaked bread in the tree branches while chanting the lively words of praise and New Year. The Handsome Molly Dancers and Kingessing Morris Dancers will lead us in festive singing and dancing to ensure our orchards have a good harvest in 2022.
Warm yourself next to the bonfire (marshmallow roasting included). The festivities are FREE and open to the public, young and old.
