The Friends of the Bergen County Zoo are pleased to announce that a brand new winter event is happening! Let it Glow – A Holiday Lantern Spectacular. This Extraordinary event is located inside the Bergen County Zoo. Let it Glow is a symphony of vivid glowing colors to tease your eyes and dazzle the mind. Come and enjoy an enchanting stroll throughout the zoo. These larger-than-life lanterns are amazing in picture but stunning in person! With over 30 scenes, these hand-made artistic wonders are more breath-taking than the last!

WinterFest Ice Skating at Cooper River

WinterFest Ice Skating at Cooper River Park presented by the Camden County Board of Commissioners will open from now until February 21 at Cooper River Park near the corner of Cuthbert Blvd. and Park Avenue in Cherry Hill.
Hours of Operation:
Thursdays: 5 PM – 9 PM
Fridays: 5 PM – 10 PM
Saturdays: 12 PM – 10 PM
Sundays: 12 PM – 9PM

Polar Bear Plunge for the Special Olympics at Wildwood
January 15, registration opens at 10 AM
Get to the beach in Wildwood to plunge into the frigid Atlantic Ocean and know that you are supporting thousands of registered Special Olympics New Jersey athletes. Have fun, get dressed up in costumes, use plunge props, and make banners and signs. There is a virtual option too.

Winter Geology Hike

Join a easy/moderate hike through the forest to focus on an area of the forest we often overlook: geology! Taking advantage of the leafless trees to survey the landscape, you will look for geologic clues to piece together the picture of the forces that shaped this land, examine the minerals that make it up, and learn the unique geologic history both across New Jersey and at Weis.

Morris County Winter Farmers’ Market – Grow It Green
January 16 at 9:30 AM
Grow It Green Morristown creates sustainable farms and gardens, and educates communities on healthy eating and environmental stewardship. They feature more than 20 farmers and local food vendors like freshly grown produce, farm-raised beef, pork and poultry and fresh seafood, baked goods, farm eggs, and so much more.

Black as ___ is an Audio & Visual Art Exhibition that dives into the black experience. Art gallery owner Wil Charles creates music sound track and exhibition into the life of blackness in America. A Day of Service In Nature
January 17 at 9 AM
Friends of Princeton Open Space, a nonprofit dedicated to land preservation, is hosting a Day of Service in Nature in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. On Monday, January 17, help them continue their work on the Riparian Restoration Project: Restore the Lakeshore! at the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve in Princeton, New Jersey. Volunteers will work under the guidance of our Natural Resources and Stewardship Director, Anna Corichi, to identify and remove invasive plants species, such as burning bush (Euonymus alatus) and multiflora rose (Rosa multiflora).
