Small Business Saturday: Sister Cities Food Tour in Lambertville & New Hope

When exploring a new city I always recommend doing a food tour (assuming they have one). A food tour is a great way to tour a new area, get a lay of the land, and my favorite part – get the opportunity to sample different restaurants in a short amount of time.

Sister Cities Food Tour, named for sister cities Lambertville, NJ and New Hope, PA, is different than other food tours because you get to tour two different cities in two different states in 3 hours. Helmed by local resident Liz Pacelli, Sister Cities Food Tours offers tours on the third Saturday of every month as well as private tours.

Joined with foodies (and bloggers/influencers) from NJ and PA we ventured into an amazing tour sponsored by small local businesses Spreen Mortgage, Hunteron Bucks Realty / Weidel, BABC/Rivertowns Fitness , Sojourner, and Local & Lovely.

We started our tour in Lambertville at El Tule  (49 N. Main St), a restaurant known for its Mexican & Peruvian Fusion menu. We had an opportunity to sit in their beautiful outdoor patio, snack on chips on multiple salsas, and chat with one of the owners.

As we walked to our next spot, Liz informed us of the history of Lambertville and pointed out local spots that were historical landmarks, shopping, and hidden gems.

Our next two locations two define two of my favorite things: wine and cheese. And in Lambertville, both happen to be next door to one another.

First, we stopped by Savour Gourmet Grocery Store known for their curated collection of fine cheeses, preserves, condiments, pasta, & sauces produced locally and from around the world. And we sampled cheese! I was in heaven. (and I went back later to purchase jam and candy)

Then we went onto La Chocolat Box which provides premium chocolate and gourmet treats both locally and from around the world.

Options at this store include truffles, bark, chocolate-covered pretzels, gummies, and much more.

Next on our tour was a shopping trip to Sojourner (26 Bridge St) situated close to the Delaware River. The store is known for its eclectic home furnishings, textiles, beads, clasps, jewelry, clothing, and decorative accessories from all around the world.

While we were there we enjoyed veggie and chicken paninis provided by Liv & Charlie’s Real Food.

Then it was time to cross the bridge to New Hope! The New Hope/Lambertville bridge has a walkway path making it easy to travel between the two cities. While you’re walking you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Delaware River.

If you’re looking for a place where you can sample different restaurants, I highly suggest Ferry Market on Main St. Food, wine, coffee, beer, etc…it has everything you’re looking for.

We were lucky to be able to share a bottles of wine from Unionville Vineyards who has a spot inside Ferry Market (their vineyard is located in Ringoes, NJ).

We paired our wine with food from The Good Gyro. We shared their falafel, spanakopita, hummus, and tomato/cucumber salad. Delicious!

And last but not least, our last stop was at The Aaron Burr House located on Bridge St.

The Aaron Burr House is a beautiful bed and breakfast that was newly renovated from a historic Victorian home. Fun fact: This is where Aaron Burr fled after he shot Alexander Hamilton. Each room at the inn has a distinct personality and features antiques, private bathrooms, and modern amenities like cable TV and complimentary WiFi.

Our dessert at the end of the tour was gluten-free banana bread, poached pears with granola, and crumb cake which we enjoyed in their beautiful dining room.

We were also surprised with a swag bag from the sponsors (listed above) and some of the locations we visited. I was super appreciative of this personal tumbler from Local & Lovely which I now use all the time.
