“Discovering Planets around Stars!” Dinner Fundraiser Set for May 5th

Hunterdon Observatory to host Dinner Fundraiser – “Discovering Planets around Stars!” is the featured presentation at the Clinton Holiday Inn – Saturday, May 5th.

The New Jersey Astronomical Association (NJAA) operates the largest amateur astronomy observatory in New Jersey and the only astronomy facility in Hunterdon County. Located on a mountain top in Voorhees State Park (High Bridge), their mission is to educate the public on astronomy and provide opportunities to view the skies through the largest public telescope in New Jersey!

With membership dues and contributions as their only source of funding, sponsors are greatly needed to help them continue providing educational services to an ever increasing local population.

The fundraiser will be quite an event beginning with a meet and greet cocktail hour at 6pm, followed by a short presentation about the observatory. A full course plated dinner will be served as astrophotography images taken at the observatory are displayed around the room.

The featured speaker is Dr. Joshua Pepper – Astronomy Professor from Lehigh University. His topic is on his work with discovering exoplanets – planets around other stars!

Individual tickets are $125. Sponsorshipa are also available, as well as ads in the evening’s program. Reservations and information are on a dedicated web site:  www.SupportNJAA.org.

For additional updated information be sure to check out their Facebook Event for details.
