NJISNTBORING Ice Cream Quest Spotlight: oWowCow in Lambertville

When an ice cream shop wins “Best Ice Cream in New Jersey” when they’ve only been open a short period of time, you take notice! oWowCow, located in Lambertville (one of my favorite towns) was an ice cream location I knew I had to visit during “National Ice Cream Month”.

oWowCow is a hand made ice cream shop which started in Pennsylvania in 2009. In 2014 they opened their first NJ location in Lambertville. They decided to open their location in Lambertville since they fell in love with the area, plus it was close to New Hope, PA where they make their ice cream.

By being located in a town like Lambertville they are able to be a community based business. The ingredients from their ice cream comes from local farmers and their baked goods come from a local bakery. Plus, the coffee they serve is from Small World Coffee in Princeton.

On to the ice cream…

oWowCow is unique because they make their own ice cream base. They are licensed by the department of agriculture, so everything they make is from scratch using local ingredients.

They always has 24 fresh flavors out at a time. Their staples are their three kinds of vanilla – Tahitian, Madagascar, Indonesian ,”I Hate Chocolate” and Cookies and Cream.

They are open year round, and they have weekend specials so be sure to stop by often! Some of their Summer flavors include Rosewater Cardamom Honey Lavendar, and Blueberry Lemon. Additionally, you can also find very creative flavors including cashew caramel, spicy ice creams like the “Holy Mole (a spicy chocolate)”, and seasonable flavors like sweet corn and sweet potato wasabi.

Customer service is very important to the staff at oWowCow. They love knowing that they give their customers real, aka not artificial, quality ice cream. They want the environment of their shop to feel home, where you can meet new people and hang out.

They also don’t believe in certain rules that you might find at other ice cream shops. Their samples are unlimited, and you can mix and match flavors and toppings any way you’d prefer.  Overall their goal is to “surprise and delight you”.

Their customers are a mix of local and people who are vacationing in the area. Although they are walkable from the downtown area, their location actually is in an area where you don’t have to pay for parking and they have their own parking lot.

Not hungry? Take it to go! oWowCow also sell their ice cream in pints, ice cream cakes, and other fun desserts in their freezer.
