Brewery Review: Conclave Brewing Co

IMG_1849

If you ever find yourself in Flemington, which you should because it’s a cute town with mom and pop shops and more, you should definitely grab a beer at Conclave Brewing Co!

I visited Conclave Brewing Co in the beginning of October, so I got to experience some of their seasonal Fall beers. One of the things I love about visiting craft breweries is that they’re always creating new things, so if you stop by another time you can try a completely different set of beers.

It’s a pretty small brewery with a small tap room, and when we went they were busy! They have an area where they brew the beer, and you can drink in there as well  after you take the tour.

When we were there we could try 6 beers for $10.  If you don’t want to try everything, you can try things in sample sizes or larger. Browsing through their Facebook page this changes depending on how many beers they offer on a particular day. This is what they had on tap while we were there:

– Moses (Mosiac Hopped Saison) – 5.4% ABV
– Nelson (Saison) – 5.4% ABV
– Pumpkin Brown Ale – 5.38% ABV
– Mexican Morning (Stout) – 5% ABV
– Espresso Stout – 5.4 % ABV (offered year round)

They were not offering an IPA at the time, which I’m personally okay with, but they change their rotation pretty frequently so it’s definitely worth going back. I’d be curious to go back and try their pale ale as well.

Their “Moses” beer was pretty hoppy so if you like an IPA you would probably like that beer.

Their Espresso Stout is brewed with locally-roasted beans from Benfatto Coffee. So if you like a coffee stout, you will enjoy this beer.

The 6th beer was the Straight Out of Pumpkin Brown Ale which was…straight from a pumpkin! It was very cool. The difference in taste wasn’t too different, but I definitely enjoyed the creativity.

I’m not really a huge stout fan, but I really enjoyed the Mexican Morning. It’s a spin off of the Espresso Stout, but it’s kicked up with dried red chile de arbol peppers, vanilla bean, cinnamon and cocoa nibs. It was a limited batch, but if it were available, I probably would have taken a growler home.

Speaking of growlers, it was only $5 for an empty growler! My growler collection is getting out of control…

I had a great experience drinking beer at Conclave Brewing. The guys who run it are very friendly and truly love their craft. Support this local brewery!
