Sunday Brunch: Samba in Montclair, NJ

Looking for a taste of Brazil in New Jersey? I stopped by Samba in Montclair for authentic Brazilian food during Sunday brunch.

Located in the downtown area, Samba Montclair is situated on Park Street close to local shopping. The restaurant is open daily with the exception of major holidays. Their brunch menu is offered Saturday and Sunday from 12pm – 3pm.

Options you’ll find on their brunch menu include their Brazilian Avocado Toast, French Toast, burgers, and fresh-pressed juice. All of the items at Samba are made gluten-free, so many of their items are served on their popular homemade gluten-free cheese bread.

We started our meal with “Mandioca Frita Com Linguica Calabresa E Cebola” – fried yuca served with Brazilian pork sausage and sauteed onions.

Samba Montclair is also BYOB so bring wine, champagne, beer, or whatever else to spice up your brunch. You could even add champagne to their famous freshly squeezed orange juice.

Speaking of juice, my husband and I ordered two of their juices with our meal. He ordered the previously mentioned orange juice, and I ordered the pineapple mint which was DELICIOUS.

For my main entree, I chose their egg white omelet which is prepared with grilled chicken and goat cheese.

Their brunch (unless specified) is served with a side of yuca fries and mesclun greens.

My husband ordered the Angus Burger, a grass-fed beef burger topped with egg and served on their cheese bread.

During your visit make sure to take in their beautiful decor from floor to ceiling filled with mirrors, antique pots, vintage tableware, and more.

You’ll also admire their gorgeous mural of Carmen Miranda, the famous Brazilian samba singer also known as “The Brazilian Bombshell”. The mural depicts Miranda with her signature fruit hat outfit she wore in her American films.

If you have room for dessert, I highly recommend the “Bolo De Mandioca”. The dessert is a flourless yuca and coconut cake served with dulce de leche and passion fruit sauce.
