Beer, Doughnuts, and Superheroes…a Perfect Evening in Asbury Park
One of my favorite things about Summer is seeing a movie outside on a big screen. So when I saw the Asbury Hotel/Baronet Theater was doing a special screening of Avengers: Infinity War with Asbury Park Brewery beers and Purple Glazed donuts I bought tickets immediately.
I’m a big fan of the Asbury Hotel. They’re fun, they’re clean, and they’re dog friendly, and there’s a block away from the Asbury Park beach. But one of my favorite things about the hotel is the Baronet Theater, an outside movie theater that is open to the public.

The Baronet Theater is a 4,300 square foot rooftop space that turns into an outdoor movie theater on a 20 foot wall. The cinema features state of the art projection and sound equipment. Beer, wine, popcorn and snacks available during every film. Movies range from The Little Mermaid to Grease, to newer releases like A Quiet Place and Lego Movie 2.
Unfortunately Thanos has other plans, and the lightening and thunder made it an issue to see the movie outdoors. Luckily instead of cancelling the event, it was held at the famous Asbury Lanes a few blocks away.
The staff at the Asbury set up giant bean bags and fun seating arrangements for our screening, so other than the location the night was still the same.
Asbury Lanes is known for bowling, live music and entertainment, and an on site bar and diner.
You can read about my review of their diner here.
The beer and donut pairing was a a great bonus to watching the movie. Asbury Park Brewery and Purple Glaze Donuts, whom I have a special connection with, had donuts that paired with Asbury Park Brewery’s beer. All donuts had fun “Avengers” themed donuts paired with three beers. No sample sizes! Full size donuts and full size cans were included in our ticket price.
Pairing #1: Asbury Park Brewery’s Stout with “I Am Groot” Donut
A mildly sweet Irish stout with notes of coffee and chocolate paired very well with a chocolate donut topped with chocolate icing, a vanilla glaze, oreo crumb, and coffee.
Pairing #2: Asbury Park Brewery’s Blonde with “End Game” Donut
Probably my favorite pairing of the three, the unfiltered East Coast IPA paired perfectly with a vanilla donut topped with caramel icing, cinnamon, powdered sugar, and sea salt.
We stopped drinking and eating to watch the movie…
Before returning back to our beer and donuts!
Pairing #3: Asbury Park Brewery’s Sea Dragon with “God of Thunder” Donut
AP Brewery’s Sea Dragon is a light bodied European lager. “God of Thunder” is a vanilla donut with vanilla icing, graham crackers, lemon cream, vanilla whip, and yogurt chips. Nom nom nom.
Despite the venue change, we couldn’t have asked for a nicer night out in Asbury Park! Beer, Donuts, and Superheroes…a winning combo!
