The Whitman Diner in Turnersville, NJ: Review

Open since 1975, the Whitman Diner on Route 42 serves up all-day American comfort food in a retro NJ Diner setting and a chic cocktail lounge.

Walking in I was immediately in love with the decor. All the neon lights and chrome screamed 50s diner to me, but it also had a modern feel to it as well.

Because they pride themselves on being a hip diner, their menu reflects that.

Things that stood out to me on their Menu:
– Cannoli stuffed French toast
– Big breakfast sandwiches
– Green bean fries
– Fried pickle chips
– “Gonzo” fries (old bay seasoned, crumbled bacon, pepper jack & cheddar,scallions, sour cream)
– Soup made from scratch which they have daily (seafood bisque, french onion, and chicken noodle)
– A.B.L.T (avocado, bacon, lettuce, tomato)
– lots of unique sandwiches, salads and burgers
…etc

They also serve their own house blend coffee, cappuccinos, espressos, and lattes. Additionally because they have a bar you can order a bloody Mary or Bellini with brunch or a decadent hot chocolate (made with Godiva liquor). I decided to get a coffee (Lacas) with a shot of hazelnut. It was the perfect boost of caffeine needed for the day!

For my meal I ultimately I decided to get the ahi tuna sandwich which was a delicious choice! Topped with avocado, tomato, and lettuce and served on a brioche bun the sandwich really hit the spot. It was one of the better sandwiches I’ve had at a diner…ever. Plus their fries are perfection.
