A Magical Afternoon at Beach Plum Farm
If you’re looking for a beautiful outdoor space, farm-to-table dining, and shopping…then Beach Plum Farm in West Cape May is the spot for you. Located on a 62-acre working farm, this family-friendly and dog-friendly spot has been open to the public since 2008.
The farm itself has grown to produce over 100 kinds of fruits and vegetables as well as chickens, eggs, and Berkshire Hogs which provide produce and meats to local Cape May restaurants like The Ebbitt Room, the Blue Pig Tavern, the Rusty Nail, the Boiler Room, Louisa’s Café and more.
Beach Plum Farm also hosts their own farm-to-table meals with an ever-changing seasonal menu based on what’s fresh for breakfast and lunch. You can order eggs, omelets, hummus, sandwiches, and more. Additionally, they also host a Farm-to-Table Dinner Series which requires reservations in advance.
During my visit, I enjoyed a fresh iced tea
and a strawberry acai bowl made with local ingredients straight from the farm.
You can enjoy their food, wine, and coffee at one of their many outdoor picnic tables where you’re surrounded by various garden items. Although I was there by myself for this visit, I enjoyed petting every dog I came across. Next time I’ll be sure to bring people and my own personal dogs.
Before leaving the farm, you must take visit their indoor market where you can pick up fresh produce, cheese, jam, honey, wine from Hawk Haven Vineyard, home decor items, candles, shampoo, lotion, and more.
I personally picked up a bottle of their Beach Plum Rose which was a collaboration with Hawk Haven Vineyards, flowers, and a small ceramic rooster I fell in love with that only cost $5.
Although I only stopped by for the afternoon, Beach Plum Farm hosts stayover accommodations with their five historic cottages and barns situated right on the farm. One of the cottages, the Whaler’s Cottage, has been there since 1780!
