Vineyard Review: Plagido’s Winery

IMG_0434

I am still persistent on my goal to visit every NJ vineyard…and this time I traveled 1hr30min to “South Jersey” and visited Plagido’s Winery in Hammonton.

What I liked most about this wine tasting is that you could try EVERY THING. How do you know if you like something unless you try it, right?

For our visit, we had Adriana tell us about the wines and pour us samples. She was super friendly, very knowledgable about the wines, and gave us her personal recommendations. We shared our wine tasting with a rowdy (possibly started the day early drinking) group, and she was very good at giving us all equal attention. I hear she’s there every weekend…so if you go tell them NewJerseyIsntBoring.com sent you!

As with most wine tastings you go from dry to sweet. They had more than just “Dry” to “Sweet”. We went from dry whites, to dry red, followed by semi sweet and white wines, semi sweet and sweet reds, fruit wines, SANGRIA, and dessert wines. They were sold out of a few wines, but otherwise that day I tried 21 wines that day.

My favorites were the vidal bland (dry white), asciutto vino (dry red), Plagido Red (Sweet Red), Concetta’s Casalinga (Sweet Red), Blueberry (Fruit), Sangria, and the Homestead (Dessert). It should be noted that Hammonton is known for blueberries, so definitely try the Blueberry (Fruit) and the Blueberry (dessert) even if you don’t enjoy sweeter wines. If you are having a party and want to pick up some wine , I highly recommend the sangria. It was delicious!

I definitely enjoyed my time at this cozy vineyard. They are always doing events, and it has a lot of great outdoor space…so definitely make sure you visit.

PS. I had a LivingSocial for the wine tasting which also included cheese and crackers…so make sure to research that before you go.

If you have a NJ wine passport don’t forget to get it stamped!
