Break off a Piece of Italian Bred this Summer

We’ve all been guilty of saying my life is a sitcom. Some of us everyday of our lives say this. We come from families we’ve been dealt and created, that bring a richness, to the humor, that is our lives. But all of our jokes aside we never really create said comedy show. Well this is not the case for Candice Guardino and her show Italian Bred.

This one woman show brings to life Candice’s family and life growing up Italian, in a hilarious and real way. Her story telling will bring you in, in a fresh and original way.

Candice recreates family members by embodying their essence and reliving some of the better memories of her life. She also takes the show to the next level with some virtual cameos. Names of which you may recognize, such as Leslie Jordan (“Will And Grace”), Mario Cantone (“Sex & The City”), Steve Schirripa (“The Sopranos”), and Vic DiBitetto (“Mall Cop 2”). So between the back and forth of playing herself and her family members (such as her grandmother), to the guest appearances, the show is bond to touch home no matter what your background.

The shows journey started off-broadway, and was successful beyond belief. Its run was sold out which led to an extension. After leaving New York it went on to tour LA and Chicago in equally successful runs. Now it’s coming to grace New Jersey with shows in Asbury Park at The Paramount Theatre (July 30) and in Morristown at The Bickford Theatre at the Morris Museum (August 5&6). It’s your chance to see the show the Chicago Stage Standard gave 4 out of 4 stars while raving at how laugh out loud funny it was.

Candice really brings the idea of reminiscing to life. She takes the simple concept of reliving a memory with family, to the big stage in a way that makes you feel right at home.

Writer Samantha Gallo with Star Candice Guardino

Family impacts us so much and molds us to who we become. From the bad, to the good, to the downright ridiculous. The importance of family is what makes us, us. Candice shows all of this and how, in her case it made her, her best self and the woman she is today. She shares the stories of her learning the right old passage of escape; driving, to a staple in an Italian household; meatball making perfection. From the little steps to the big ones, her journey will warm your heart through laughter.

You’ll find it hard not to relate to Italian Bred because whose family isn’t crazy? But we love them, because they’re ours.

Samantha is a Brooklyn made and Jersey raised traveler; who is a combination of cotton candy, pixie dust, and coffee. She knows the fairy tale life exists and is seeking it out in New Jersey. Because the little things in life are what makes it great, and what better place than one of our smaller states to collect these moments.
