Diner Round Up – The Town Diner in East Windsor

The Town Diner is just one of the fabulous diners located on Route 130. This diner has gone through a bunch of different name changes in my 29 years of living in New Jersey, but hopefully this won’t be changing for a while.

One of the things I noticed about the diner right away was that it looked recently renovated. The interior was beautiful!

When we got sat down to eat we were greeted  by a friendly waitress who gave us GARLIC KNOTS! Yes, garlic knots.  That was a new one for me.

The diner has a very big menu so it was tough to make a decision. On this visit I went with my husband and another couple, so I have 4 glorious diner meals to share with you.

I decided to go old school and get a NY deli style sandwich. It was a lot of (real) roasted turkey on rye bread. It was really good, and so filling that I only could finish half of it.

It came with a soup, so of course I went with matzoh ball soup. Don’t get me started on my feelings when a diner doesn’t have matzoh ball soup.

My husband decided to go NJ classic and went with a pork roll (that was how it’s listed in the menu) egg, and cheese sandwich. Always a crowd pleaser.

My one friend who is a personal trainer decided to go healthy and get a salad. She got the Mediterranean chicken salad which she wanted me to note that it did not come with enough olives. I thought it was a very pretty looking salad. Chicken, artichokes, olives (not enough apparently), basil, pepper, tomatoes, crumbled blue cheese and a garlic vinaigrette.

Her husband on the other hand went the other way. He decided to get the “Southern Comfort” sandwich – Fried Chicken WITH shredded pork, BBQ sauce, served on garlic bread. Yeah…

It looked good though! And I’m sure it tasted amazing. Healthy? Not so much…

This diner has a lot of options ranging from healthy to comfort food. They also had a great looking dessert menu, but we were too full. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience at this diner and I would recommend it!
