An Aussie in New Jersey: Clinton and Frenchtown

On a warm day in February, with the sign that Spring was on its way (and the fact that I could leave the house without looking like the Michelin man) I decided that it was time to get back out and see New Jersey! So I planned a trip to head up to Hunterdon County and visit Clinton and Frenchtown.

My first stop was Clinton, New Jersey. I had seen so many amazing photos of the Red Mill on Instagram so I knew that was my number one stop.

What I didn’t realize was that Red Mill (56 Main St) is actually a museum. I can’t encourage you enough to stop in and learn how the cute little Mill has transformed over the years and walk around the property and explore the other little buildings on the property.

I also wasn’t expecting was how cute Clinton downtown is! It’s a very walkable town with boutiques, restaurants and museums.

One of the places I stopped in was Christie’s Artisan Bread & Pastry Shop (27 Leigh St) ; we really couldn’t go past it as the smell of the yummy bread wafted through the town.

We had to full advantage of the amazing weather so next we headed to Frenchtown.

This tiny town on the edge of the Delaware River just makes you smile.

Again, another fantastic town to get out and walk around. I loved Frenchtown’s  fantastic art vibe from the incredible life size sculptures, to the retro art garages, and the cute as button boutiques. I couldn’t help but want to book into the Frenchtown Inn which was nestled just back from the river.

Looking forward to my next New Jersey adventure. Be sure to follow me on Instagram at @AussieinNJ, and shoot over any suggestions on where to visit at anna@newjerseyisntboring.com
