About the Show: A memory play narrated by Tom depicts his relationships with his mother, a former Southern Belle and his sister Laura, who is painfully shy and spends time arranging her glass figurines. At the request of his mother, Tom brings a gentleman caller to dinner. Tom is torn between his loyalty to his family and his desire to follow his own dream.

“The Glass Menagerie” is an American masterpiece that announced the presence of one of the greatest dramatists of the 20th Century. Tennessee Williams’ semi-autobiographical heartbreaking yet often humorous play about a young struggling poet and his tenuous relationships with his overbearing mother and his fragile sister is an emotionally charged portrait of hope. It explores themes of time, memory, how one young man must leave behind his past in order to define the artist within himself and a realization that “In memory, everything seems to happen to music.”
