Duck Donuts in Middletown, NJ Open for Business!

Last Sunday (April 12, 2015), Duck Donuts celebrated it’s Grand Opening in Middletown, NJ on Route 35 in Middletown’s Ventura Plaza. Hundreds of new customers as well as friends and family gathered for the ribbon cutting. This is the first New Jersey location for the unique donut franchise, made famous in North Carolina’s Outer Banks for its warm, “create-your-own” donuts. Customers can choose from a variety of topping combinations, including traditional favorites such as chocolate icing with sprinkles and more adventurous creations such as maple icing with bacon.

The store is owned and will be operated by Matt Erickson of Middletown. Erickson, 22, is the youngest Duck Donuts franchisee to date. “My passion for food and my desire to create and manage something from the ground up led me to open the location,” he explained.

Erickson’s fond memories of family vacations to the Outer Banks that included visits to Duck Donuts also inspired his vision. “I want to bring the same fun, interactive experience to the Middletown community year-round,” he said.

Fans from up to 100 miles away have expressed anticipation of the opening on the store’s Facebook page, where Erickson has chronicled its journey since construction began last year.

The family-friendly spot includes a viewing area where children and adults alike can watch their donuts being made. Duck Donuts also sells coffee, tea, muffins, breakfast sandwiches and more.
