A Whole Lotta Fun Awaits at the Whole Lotta Empanada Festival April 20
Just Jersey Fest and the Garfield Recreation Department is thrilled to present the Whole Lotta Empanada Festival, a celebration of the vibrant flavors of Latin America! Join us on April 20 at 20th Century Park in Garfield for an unforgettable culinary experience.
The festival will feature 15 Empanada Vendors, each competing for the EMPY (People’s Choice Best Empanada) award. In addition, there will be 8 Gourmet Food Trucks offering a variety of mouthwatering options including lobster rolls, seafood, Puerto Rican, Mexican cuisine, over-the-top shakes, chicken, egg rolls, Argentinian BBQ, garlic knot sliders, tacos, desserts, and more.
Don’t forget to cast your vote for your favorite empanada. The Whole Lotta Empanada Festival has an impressive lineup of vendors offering their delicious creations including empanadas from The Cubita Truck, Cynfully Delicious, Empanada Guy, Empanada Mania, Harry’s Lil Kitchen, Lady G’s, Latin Bites, Mama Dees Empanada Trailer, Mi Sabor Boricua, Rosie’s Empanadas, and Sweetpepper Empanadas. Additionally, tantalize your taste buds with offerings from Angry Archies, Brownie Bar, Carnivale Donut Bar, Chick Wings & Things, Cold Stone Creamery, Hold My Knots, Johnny Zeppoli, Lomo Truck (Peruvian empanadas), Master Asador (Argentinian empanadas), Senor Tacos, and Uncle Sals Egg Rolls.
The event kicks off at 11am with a DJ playing Latin music, followed by an hour of dance lessons with professional Latin dancer Christina Piedra, featuring the Salsa & Bachata. The music continues throughout the day with performances by Raphy Castillo y El Sexteto Quisqueya Salsa band and Mr. LoveJoy.

There will be plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy, including beer, margarita & sangria, a rock wall, pony rides, petting zoo, inflatables, miniature golf, bungee trampoline, face painting, sand art, vendors, and more! Don’t miss the Empanada Eating Contest with a cash prize up for grabs. Register to participate at the event.
Admission is $5, and children under 5 get in free. The festival runs from 11am to 7pm, promising a day filled with delicious food, great music, and family fun.
