Veronica Plaza Diner in Somerset, New Jersey: Review
The Veronica Plaza Diner is located in…Veronica Plaza, a shopping center located in Somerset, NJ. This cute diner is open for breakfast and lunch 7 days a week.
Prior to my visit I hadn’t even heard of this diner! Thanks to a yelp search in my area I was only 4 minutes from the Veronica Plaza Diner when I was craving lunch. How lucky is that?
The diner is on the smaller side, but it has a lot of personality with a very personable staff. I especially loved their cute diner counter.
The diner has your typical diner food, but a few things on their menu stood out as unique:
– “The Veronica Fries” – French fries with mozzarella cheese, bacon, and BBQ ranch dressing
– “The Home Run” Sandwich – Grilled NY Sirloin with mozzarella cheese and caramelized onions served on garlic bread.
– “The Black Russian” Sandwich – Turkey, Pastrami, Swiss Cheese and Russian Dressing on Rye Bread
– “I am the Man” Breakfast Special – French Toast with Ham, Bacon, Sausage, and Eggs
– “Bagel Eyes” – Poached eggs on a bagel with cheddar cheese and potatos
Since I was craving it I went for one of my diner regulars: a chicken gyro. On top of the sandwich my meal came with soup, and the Veronica Plaza Diner makes their own homemade soups including their popular chicken noodle.
The soup was a meal in itself! Very hearty with delicious grilled chicken.
When I meal arrived I was shocked how huge it is! I ordered a Greek salad instead of fries (trying to be healthier!) and ended up taking most of it home. It was so much food, and very tasty too.
Although this was a surprise find, I was very happy with my meal and experience at the Veronica Plaza Diner. Plus my meal was under $10, which is always a bonus.
