The Lakeside Diner in Forked River: Review
Previously known as the Colonial Diner, the Lakeside Diner is the 268th diner that I’m reviewing for New Jersey Isn’t Boring. Since she accompanied me to my last three Ocean County diners, Hollie aka FueledbyLOLZ and fellow diner enthusiast joined me for this visit.
The diner itself is pretty adorable inside and out and has a lot of personal touches. You almost feel like you’re dining in someone’s lake house!
Their menu is fairly typical of a NJ Diner. A few things that stood out to me included their homemade chicken pot pie, their famous baby back ribs, fried catfish sandwich, and otherhomemade meals like their authentic Greek Gyro and Burgers.
Because we were by the shore and the price was right, I ordered their fish and chips with came with a soup or salad. I decided to get their chicken noodle soup which was very good and clearly homemade.
My fish and chips were a pretty good portion and included onion rings as well. I asked for a side of honey mustard which is my favorite french fry dipping sauce.
Hollie got one Lakeside Diners “Southern Specialties” breakfast specials, specifically the Lakeside Breakfast. This fairly priced meal came with a choice of pancakes or french toast, 2 eggs, choice of meat, and a small juice.
I ended up having her juice (OJ), and she subbed her breakfast meat for fresh fruit at an additional price.
Overall this was a super cute spot to grab brunch!
