Diner Review #277: The Tenafly Classic Diner
Although it may take me a while, I’m slowly trying to check more Bergen County Diners off my list (there’s so many!). Since I’d been tempted more than once by their Instagram page, I decided to check out the Tenafly Classic Diner while I was in the area.

The Tenafly Classic Diner has been serving the community since 2002. Their motto is “Comforting, yet sophisticated”. They make every effort to deliver the most flavorful and healthy meal to each of their guests daily. Whether it be locally sourced produce, grass-fed beef, gluten sensitive options, or house-baked desserts, they make every possible item from scratch.
Some items on their menu that stood out are:
– Cheesesteak Egg Rolls
– Chicken Wings of Fire
– Loaded Mac and Cheese (Bacon, Caramelized Onion, Toasted Bread Crumbs)
– Short Rib Grilled Cheese
– Thanksgiving on a roll (Hand Carved Turkey, apple stuffing, turkey gravy, cranberry sauce)
– Cereal Bowl Pancakes (Fruity Pebbles and Captain Crunch, Whipped Cream)
– Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos
– Frozen Hot Chocolate
– Beyond Burger
– Southern Fried Chicken
– Thai Chicken Salad
– Maryland Crabcakes
– Cocktails like their Morning Margarita (Jose Cuervo, Grand Marnier, Orange Juice)
…and much, much more.
Their menu also caters to vegetarians, gluten-free, and dairy free customers. Items on their menu are noted to fit dietary needs.
We started our meal with fried mac and cheese bites…because how could you resist?
Oh my goodness were they delicious!
I also decided to get a dinner special which included a soup and dessert. I got matzoh ball, since it’s my favorite.
It did not disappoint.
For my entree I decided to get tuna ahi tacos which were amazing! Lime, guacamole, side of rice and beans…one of the best meals I’ve had.
AND for dessert, rice pudding! Sadly my meal did not come with one of the epic desserts behind the counter, but I did get to enjoy their homemade rice pudding topped with cinnamon and whipped cream. It was really good.
