Open since August 1st, 2020, Hemp and Honey has become an essential hub for all things CBD and wellness. Owned and operated by a licensed RN, Dana Ohebshalom (who I got to interview), their CBD boutique and online store has the largest and diverse selection of products anywhere in NJ. Because Dana works in the medical field, she spends a lot of time researching brands and connecting with producers who take pride in their products. She loves introducing consumers to products that they fall in love with and most importantly get relief from.
“I’ve been using CBD products for several years and I saw that there was a major void in the market. There was no place that you could go to learn and explore a variety of products. Much like many consumers I was just ordering things online blindly and hoping for the best some of the products were great but many of them left a lot to be desired. Being a mother and registered nurse I am always looking for alternatives to treat anxiety and help with sleep and CBD was my answer.”

As “Purveyors of Fine Hemp Products”, Hemp and Honey carry something from everyone and source their products from businesses they trust including local businesses in the tri-state area. You’ll find items like CBD infused coffee and tea, edible CBD like chocolate, gum, and gummies, and beauty products like facial products, bath bombs, and moisturizers.
They also sell plenty of products for pets.
Hemp and Honey is located in the ‘Shadyside Distirct’, Edgewater’s true downtown. Their location on Old River Rd, the shop feels at home among other independent shops and restaurants. If you visit the shop in person be sure to order a tea or a CBD cold brew.
Because they opened in the Summer of 2020 they had to deal with opening a new venture during the height of a global pandemic. “It was definitely a scary time for so many different reasons but I couldn’t have thought of a more appropriate time to open a shop that could bring people so much joy and relief. The most valuable lesson I have learned is that if you provide people with a quality service and premium products you can build a meaningful relationship that will last a long time.”
As for the future, that all depends on how the state of NJ progresses with new changes to the cannabis laws that passed in the last election. “My hope is to be able to obtain a license and offer our customers an added service in addition to our current offerings. I am still waiting to see how this new program develops but I am optimistic about the future. Perhaps a few more locations in the future but time will tell. I am currently just humbled by all of the support that we have received in such a short period of time.”
