Small Business Saturday: DollyMoo in Montclair
For today’s Small Business Saturday we’re featuring DollyMoo, a handmade bath and body shop located in downtown Montclair. I personally visited their location and fell a little bit in love with the magic of this shop.
At DollyMoo they’re all about quality, not quantity. Their small shop on Glenridge Ave contains multitudes of amazing homemade smelling soaps, scrubs, facial serums, aromatherapy, lip balms, sprays, bath bombs, candles, etc…and they smell AMAZING and are pretty to look at too!
Nicci Silva and her sister Amy Rivera are the co-owners of Dolly Moo and started their business venture 11 years ago. They began slowly growing their homegrown bath and body business by traveling to craft shows, yoga festivals and using social media and their website to promote themselves.

Six years ago, they took a leap of faith and decided to open their DollyMoo storefront in the heart of Montclair center. The two Jersey girls grew up in Essex County and frequented the city often. When a vacant space opened up next door to their friends at MishMish, they knew it was fate.
Their products are made with the “finest ingredients, intention, and good energy”.Their products are also made in the backspace of their shop! New Jersey Isn’t Boring spoke to Nicci about the concept of their store.
“Our concept of spreading love, making magick, and taking baths have evolved into a spiritual lifestyle for our family and our beautiful customers. Our YiaYia, which means Grandmother in Greek, used to call us DollyMoo. The energy behind this term of endearment is filled with comfort and love. When people enter our shop, we hope they feel at home and know they are a part of our family. That the love and magick put into each product transpires through every use of DollyMoo.”
One of the ways the store stands out is their new seasonal collection every Equinox & Solstice, along with a late winter collection called Love to Love. Each season they come out with a line of products inspired by the magick of Mother Earth.
The shop transforms their decor every season, from a witch’s cottage in the fall to a faerie forest in the spring and everything in-between. “We have so much fun being endlessly creative and connecting with the ever-changing seasonal spirits.”, says Nicci.

Dolly Moo has an impressive community and big following on social media, something that helped them during the pandemic.
“Here at DollyMoo, we always operate from a place of gratitude. We know that things are not permanent, and anything can be taken away from you in a second. When Covid first hit, we were really challenged with this belief, how to handle our storefront shutting down without letting fear win. We took a few deep breaths (ok and a few more deep breaths cause it was super scary) and trusted that we would get through this.”

“The lesson with this belief kept us calm, knowing that we would rebuild, persevere, and not let it break us if we didn’t get through this challenging time. The other important lesson we have learned is that the world works together. Sourcing ingredients and supplies have been extremely difficult over the last year and still is. It shows that we are all in this together, we are all one, and it takes all of us to make the world go round.”
I left DollyMoo with a variety of objects including shower steamers, perfume, lip gloss, and a candle.
