The Scotchwood Diner in Scotch Plains: Review

Located in Scotch Plains, the Scotchwood Diner is a New Jersey diner and bar located on Route 22. I traveled to the diner with my good friend Hollie, blogger of FueledbyLOLZ, who is also on a mission to visit every diner in New Jersey. This was both our first trip to this particular Union County diner.

Immediately when I walked into the diner I was super excited. I was in LOVE with the decor of the Scotchwood Diner. From the retro booths, to the lighting, to the chrome, to the JUKEBOX…I was in diner heaven.

And check out this adorable diner counter!

On to the food…

The Scotchwood Diner has a little bit of everything. From fun breakfast items like oreo pancakes and waffles, pizza, kabobs,  sandwiches, burgers and hot dogs, and nachos (to name a few) the diner has plenty to choose from. I decided to get coffee while I looked over their menu (which was great by the way).

Because it was difficult to make a decision, I decided to go with one of their daily lunch specials since it included soup and dessert. It made decision making a lot easier since I can’t pass up a great deal.

All the soups at the diner are homemade and even though they had a lot of great sounding soups I went with my usual…matzoh ball. It was very good.

For my entree I decided to get stuffed mushrooms that were topped with crab meat and served over rice. I was looking for something healthy and this was a great option. The entire meal was very delicious.

Hollie, who is always healthy on our diner trips, got their “famous” Greek salad. Such a pretty salad!

For dessert I had a choice of pudding, jello, or ice cream, but our waitress really sold me on their bread pudding. Hollie, whose meal didn’t include dessert, was also sold on the bread pudding pitch and ordered one herself.

I was not disappointed! Their bread pudding is one of the better diner bread puddings I’ve had. It was very custard-y and smooth. It was also the reason I ended up at the gym after my diner visit.

All and all, the Scotchwood Diner has been one of the more exciting diner visits I’ve been to in a while. Be sure to check them out!
