Schuyler Diner in Lyndhurst: Review
Located on Schuyler Avenue in Lyndhurst sits the Schuyler Diner or the “Schuyler Grill & Cafe” one of Bergen County’s many diners.
Newly reopened and designed, the diner has a beautiful new interior that includes a gorgeous diner counter.
And a diner first for me – a 460 gallon fish tank! So after 200+ diner visits and I get to see something I’ve never seen in a NJ diner before, which makes it stand out already.
I got to visit the diner with my friend and diner enthusiast Hollie who writes reviews on running and diners on her blog FueledbyLOLZ and her husband Tim.
All three of us has a fun going through the diner’s expansive and never-ending menu trying to pick out something for lunch. Because I arrived there first I enjoyed coffee while I searched for something to eat.
The Schuyler Diner has basically everything: pizza, Indian food, Mexican food, Greek food, sandwiches, burgers, flatbreads, salads with homemade dressings, pasta with homemade sauce, smoothies etc. I made it through a coffee and a half before finalizing my lunch option.
The diner has a great deal for lunch where you can basically take any sandwich and add $2 to make it a lunch special. The lunch specials come with a choice of 2 items to add on to your meal: fries, soup, salad, or soda. I decided to go with soup for my first choice.
Their split pea soup was fantastic! Homemade soup is always a good choice, and this bowl of soup was very filling. It was a meal in itself.
For my second choice I chose fries to go along with my entree: a shrimp parm sub.
I was craving something breaded and fried, so this meal with the perfect choice. I was impressed with how big this sandwich was, and was also very happy to see crispy fries. A bonus: the diner makes their own marinara sauce!
Overall I was very pleased with my meal! It was a great deal and the food was fantastic. Plus I got to take home half of my meal for lunch the next day. Win Win.
