The Ritz Diner in Livingston: Review
Located on Mount Pleasant Ave in Livingston sits the popular Ritz Diner! Fun Fact: It was featured on Season 2 of Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives!
The diner is very retro inside and out. It doesn’t look like it’s been updated in a long time, but I think that is part of it’s charm.
Their menu has a lot! In addition to their homemade challah bread which is served with most meals, the diner has pretty much everything you could imagine. Items that stood out:
– Flanken in the Pot
– Kasha Varnishkas
– Sesame Chicken
– Cuban Sandwich
– A full Gluten Free menu
– Braised Brisket
– Matzoh Brei
…and so much more.
They also give you a bowl of some kind of salad when you sit down.
Their menu is a little pricey, but for the portions they give you it’s well worth it. You’ll definitely have left overs.
I decided to go with the very affordable French Onion Soup which came with salad and garlic bread, however it was way more food than I thought it would be!
It came with a full loaf of garlic bread! Plus the salad was more than your typical side salad. I was very full.
Of course I couldn’t leave the Ritz Diner without their famous apple pie. The pie was not only featured on Diner, Drive Ins, and Dives but it also is featured right up on their vast dessert display board.
Safe to say I fell in love…
It was delicious and well worth it! It’s a unique apple pie too. Definitely get it heated!
Overall, it was easy for me to see why the diner has won best diner is Essex County 7 years in a row!
