My Spicy Review of Hot Sauce 4 Good – A Local NJ Hot Sauce from Hillsborough

I recently started a NJ Hot Sauce page on this website, and within 24 Hours of posting it I was contacted from Hot Sauce 4 Good‘s owner Bob Ferretti letting me know about his home grown sauce based out of Hillsborough, NJ. He shipped me a variety of their hot sauces to try (if you’d like me to send me anything to try, contact me at newjerseyisntboring@gmail.com) and it was one of the best packages I’ve ever received!

sublime-cilantroSubLime Cilantro: I tried the Sublime Cilantro first since I am a big fan of verde sauces. First I had it on eggs for dinner, which was delicious. Next I marinated my chicken in it. WOW. This sauce goes with anything! If you’re also a fan of verde sauces, I highly recommend it. It’s mild/medium, and it also has a decent kick to it. Jalapeño peppers with cilantro, lime ginger and garlic…what’s not to like?

hot-garlic-Hot Gatlic – Hot Garlic was definitely the hottest sauce for me in my opinion. Dayum did that have a kick! If you love garlic and spice…you should be buying this ASAP. Cayenne and habanero peppers along with some garlic will definitely heat up your mouth.

autumn-spice-Autumn Spice – A hot sauce that makes you feel like it’s a hot, spicy Fall. That sounded awkward…but it’s true. It’s unique – cayenne and habanero peppers, along with a blend of spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, clove and allspice. They describe it as a “hot apple cider”.

lo-heat-o-Lo-Heat-O – A hot sauce that combines banana peppers, lime, mint, pineapple, and cider vinegar. It’s hot, but it’s also on the milder side which is interesting. It’s a great sauce that has a fun kick to it.

Each bottle retails for about $10 each, OR you can get a variety pack. All the info is on their website’s shop. The choice is yours.

What I love about Hot Sauce 4 Good aside from these tasty sauces, is that they donate a minimum of $1 dollar per bottle sold to charity (hence the “4 Good”). Here are a few of the charities they donate to:

World Vision Micro works internationally to micro-finance small loans to individuals and families who are building small businesses in developing countries, creating jobs and bettering the lives of those in the community with their profits. Having first sponsored a couple of children in Mozambique and Sri Lanka, this organization now supports entrepreneurs worldwide in third world countries, allowing them to improve their own lives and their communities in the future.

Urban Impact engages inner city youth with programs dedicated to their spiritual, academic, and family development, to ensure our city’s young people stay on a path that leads to becoming productive and altruistic members of society.

Elijah’s Promise started with a small soup kitchen, organized by 3 churches in 1989, and has grown to include a training program with professional culinary curriculum. This opportunity has allowed hundreds of eager students to prepare for and secure jobs in the food service industry, proving that given the right tools, the people of New Jersey can learn to feed themselves, and create a community where no one needs to go hungry.

In conclusion, if you love hot sauce you should definitely buy from Hot Sauce 4 Good. They’re a local NJ hot sauce whose ingredients come from local NJ farms, their hot sauce is AMAZING, and by purchasing a bottle (or more) you are contributing money to worthy cause! What are you waiting for?

About Hot Sauce 4 Good’s Mission (Via Website):

“We are committed to changing the world by supporting charities that feed the hungry, educate the poor and invest in hard working entrepreneurs in developing countries. To accomplish this we make great hot sauce.”

It started with a New Jersey family, making hot sauce together from the peppers in their garden. Their love of crafting hot sauces grew to include bottles made for family and friends, and eventually, a business was born – and this family was determined to use their new venture to make the world a better place. They created Hot Sauce 4 Good as a small, family run company dedicated to supporting charities with the infrastructure to deliver their profits where they are needed most.

Now they create thousands of bottles of hot sauce from the finest locally sourced ingredients. When available, the Hot Sauce 4 Good team hand-selects their peppers from two New Jersey farms (Hillsboro Farm and Norz Hill Farm). Their hot sauce is bottled by hand, as their spicy creations have become a labor of love. Their stock lineup of perfected flavors is supplemented seasonally with a specialty flavor made in limited quantities. Sometimes these seasonal flavors do so well they join the regular array of flavors, as was the case with their hot hit “Sublime Cilantro.”

Bob Ferretti and his family continue to churn out the hot stuff with the sole intention of raising as much money as possible for the charities they believe in. Proudly donating a minimum of $1 per bottle sold, Hot Sauce 4 Good helps to fund projects around the globe and right here at home in the United States. Their efforts, fueled by an ever-expanding cult following for their spicy sauces, have raised over $65k to date for the charities they support. With more “do-gooders” ordering hot sauce for charity, each day brings them closer to realizing their mission on a larger scale than ever. Recently, Hot Sauce 4 Good’s money has helped to support developing nations in Africa and the family has traveled there to visit some of the entrepreneurs that are making a difference.
