The Maplewood Diner: Review

Located in the heart of Maplewood sits the Maplewood Diner, a 24-hour diner located on Springfield Avenue.

The diner looks like it has been recently made over with new seating, tile, lighting fixtures etc. It’s a very clean, beautiful diner inside and out. Plus they have an excellent wait staff!

The diner has all your favorite diner classics. Here are a few items that stood out to me:
– Chicken and Waffle Breakfast, served with honey dijon
– Banana Upside Down Pancakes
– Philly Cheese Steak Omelette
– Coconut Shrimp appetizer
– The Diablo Burger, made with blackening spice, homemade pesto, and fried egg
– “The Crown” Pastami Burger, a burger topped with a crown of pastrami, Swiss cheese, grilled onions, and Russian dressing
– Bella’s Homemade Meatloaf, piled high and topped with gravy
– Lobster Ravioli

Because we were there for breakfast we went for a big diner breakfast meal since it was close to lunch. I started with coffee which was highly recommend, and it happens to look great in “portrait mode”. I had at least 2-3 cups.

My husband got the Grand Slam, a big breakfast that gave you a little bit of everything: pancakes (or French Toast), ham, bacon, sausage, and two eggs.

I opted for something a little lighter, and since I wasn’t in the mood for eggs I decided on the Seven-Grain Pancakes, which were served with fresh fruit. It was delicious. (It also photographs well in portrait mode)

I really enjoyed this trip to Maplewood and their namesake diner. Since there were lots of items for lunch and dinner that were very appealing, there’s a good chance I’ll be back soon!
