The Malibu Diner in Hoboken: Review
It’s good to know that in a city as busy as Hoboken, there’s a diner that’s open 24 hours for your convenience! I traveled to the Malibu Diner on a Sunday afternoon with 10 of my closest friends to experience brunch at this popular diner.
Right off the back I noticed how beautiful the diner is. It has new furniture, classy lighting, and is very spacious. It really fits in with how hip Hoboken is.
Because we were there for brunch on a Sunday we got to take advantage of their $2 drink specials! The specials were offered until 4pm. Can you really beat a $2 bloody Mary, Bellini, or Mimosa?
Cheers!
The Malibu Diner’s menu features hundreds of made-to-order items in addition to daily specials. It has your traditional diner fare, but also has options you can get at a fancier restaurant. Because we had a big group we got to order a bunch of different stuff that I can show you.
For those of us feeling more “brunchy”, they ordered egg skillets, omelettes, and the Eggs Benedict (pictured here):
Diner Tip: Always ask for your home fries “well done”. Trust me.
For the one who is looking for a cross between breakfast and lunch, you can order “The Boken’ Burger”. This 8oz. of USDA Choice Beef burger is served with Pork Roll, an Over Easy Egg, American Cheese, Lettuce & Tomato:
If you’re looking for another kind of burger, I recommend the “Malibu Burger” made with Melted Swiss, Grilled Onions and Mushrooms, Lettuce and Tomato on an English Muffin (or you can stick with their amazing potato rolls like my friend did):
In going with the “Malibu” theme, I went with the “Malibu Grilled Chicken” (Blackened Grilled Chicken, Caramelized Onions, Bell Peppers, Jack Cheddar Cheese, Lettuce & Tomato, on a Ciabatta Roll ). Sooooo good AND the fries were crispy.
If you’re not a fan of fries, you can sub them out for Rice, their Homemade Mashed Potatoes or Home Fries for no charge. For an additional charge you can sub out fries for their homemade potato salad, a potato pancake, spicy waffle fries, a cup of soup, and more.
If you’re looking for a classier diner with all the traditional diner food that you love, I would definitely recommend taking a trip to the Malibu Diner. They’ve been around since the 1940’s and it’s easy to see why!
