Magnify Brewing Co: Review

Magnify Brewing Co is just one of the few breweries located in North Jersey. This brewery also happens to be 8 minutes away from Cricket Hill Brewing Co, which I visited the same day. They are located to several major highways so they are pretty easy to get to. PLUS they are located right next to a distillery, so if you’re looking for a day of drinking local New Jersey alcohol you don’t need to go far.

When we walked in it was PACKED.  People were having a great time drinking and hanging out. You could tell a lot of them were regulars. We were lucky enough to get seats!

We took a short tour with founder and president of Magnify Brewing Co, Eric Ruta. After experiencing the craft beer scene out in Portland, Maine during his college years, he wanted to bring back a little bit of Maine to his home state of New Jersey. He and head brewer Erich Carrle are big on creating high quality beers for you to enjoy.

Like Cricket Hill Brewing Co,  they also do not have a flight option. They have smaller 8oz glasses (ranging from $3 to $6.50) but it adds up quickly if you’re looking to try a bunch of different beer. I ended up trying three beers out of the 5 they had on tap.

Beers I tried:
– Flashbacks are Forever 7% ABV
– Search Saison 5.5% ABV
– It’s-Dam-Cool Turkey Coffee Porter 7% ABV

The Search Saison is the only beer I tried that’s a year round beer. It’s smooth and easy to drink, a good mix of funk and hops.

The two other beers I tried that day were seasonal beers. I’m not a big coffee porter fan, but since this was a Turkey Coffee porter I figured I’d give it a try. It’s has a good spice to it that’s perfect for a Winter beer. The Flashbacks are Forever is a limited batch seasonal saison that spent over 5 months aging in stainless steel. It was my favorite of the beers I tried that day. This beer was only available in bottles only.

Overall, this is a great new brewery that values quality and is proud to be brewing in New Jersey. They should definitely be on your list of places to visit in the Garden State.
