Dinosaurs After Dark is a Jurassic Journey In The Night

Let me set the scene. You arrive to be greeted by one of many park rangers who assigns you to a group. You are then handed a flashlight and led to where your journey will begin. After a brief introduction you start your adventure. After only seconds on your journey you are informed about a possible threat, of dino proportions. A baby trex has escaped. Where are you? Field Station Dinosaurs is the answer.

Field Station Dinosaurs is a fun, interactive theme park that brings the prehistoric era to life. It’s fun for the whole family, from dinosaur lover to dino enthusiast alike. If you always wanted to visit Jurassic Park, then field station is the place for you. And don’t worry they have solved that “life finds a way” problem. The dinosaurs here are all well managed and taken care of.

Now if you think the fun ends there, you’re wrong. For the months of September and October, Field Station Dinosaur is hosting ‘Dinosaurs After Dark’ every Friday and Saturday night. This is a fun way to get your explorer on, in a whole new way. There are a limited number of spaces for each night, which makes for a more intimate and personal experience. You’re broken up into groups of about 15 people and then your lead throughout the park, to partake in different activities.

Our first stop was a yurt where station leader Matt lead us on a journey through our senses and I learned a few new facts. (Such as eye patches were originally intended to help men at sea, see better in the dark) then after a few different activities that had the kids testing their senses and laughing, we head on to our next excursion. But not before we were informed that the T-Rex has the best sense of smell out of all the animals that have ever lived. I know, good luck, right?

Our second stop was, what I like to call the dino games. Station leader Jessie showed us how each activity was to be played. Then it was time to hit the ground running and get our dino on. This was a good laugh and really made you forget there was a baby dinosaur on the loose.

That is until we had to brave the raptor maze. But before we knew it we were out and on our way to tour the park and search for the baby dinosaur. Our guide kept reminding us to stay alert and look for any evidence. Sure enough, with flashlight in hand, some kids spotted the first clue; a footprint. This really set the search off right. This meant we were close.

Along the way our guide introduced us to some of the dinosaurs they housed at the park. He shared information and facts about each as well.

All in all it was a fun night for kids and adults alike. Once our search wrapped up we were lead to the theatre for a fun show that tied everything together from the night.

The group was then lead to a campfire where there was hot cocoa and s’mores kits waiting. Everyone got one of each and dug in while music played in the tent behind us. It was a great way to end the evening. The baby T-Rex even showed up as a thank you and took a picture with each family.

If you’re looking for something fun to do as a family or have a child that is obsessed with dinosaurs or even just wanna switch it up a bit this is the place for you. It brings parents and their kids together in a fun, interactive, learning experience. There’s plenty of laughs, jumps,  and excitement for a fun night out with your family. So if you have the chance be sure to check it out…even if it’s just to meet some baby dinosaurs!
