Happy National Grilled Cheese Day! Here are the Best Places to Grab a Grilled Cheese in NJ

Happy National Grilled Cheese Day! As one of the best comfort foods that you can enjoy as a kid and as an adult, I sent out a call to action for the best grilled cheese places in the Garden State .

Here is a list of some specialty grilled cheese restaurants in New Jersey. Go get some grilled cheese…tell them I sent you!

Here are the Best Places to Grab a Grilled Cheese in NJ:

American Melts
515 Springfield Rd, Kenilworth; 908-591-8885
A grilled cheese restaurant that brings together classic and high-quality foods.  You will be transported back to your childhood by creating your favorite grilled cheese sandwich. Keep it classic with country white bread and American cheese or build a trendy sandwich on a donut with Nutella and cream cheese. Whatever your grilled cravings desire, they can create for you.  Vegan and Gluten-Free Options Available.

Bond Street Bar
208 Bond St, Asbury Park; 732-774-1575
One of the best dive bars in New Jersey is known for their grilled cheese (I’ve had the pleasure, and can highly recommend) They have several options including a grilled cheese with “Bacon, Apple & Blue Cheese”Jalapeno Cheddar”, and an “Artichoke, Mozzarella, and Sun-Dried tomatoes). Don’t forget the PBR.

The Cheese Cave
14 Monmouth Street, Red Bank, 732-842-0796
Worth the hype! The Cheese Cave in downtown Red Bank is known for its variety of different cheeses so of course, their grilled cheeses are unique and epic.  Be sure to order my personal fave the “Four Cheese Melt” – Asiago Fresco, Provolone, Gouda, Cheddar & Roasted Red Tomatoes on Sour Dough Bread.

The Committed Pig
3 Locations – Summit, Morristown, and Manasquan
The grilled cheese portion on their menu (yes, they have their own section) includes inventive grilled cheese sandwiches like the Spinach and Artichoke, Buffalo Chicken, and Fig N’ Brie. You also can’t go wrong with classic grilled cheese and homemade tomato soup.

The Grilled Cheese And Crab Cake Co
55 W Laurel Dr, Somers Point; 609-601-7533
Led by the creative genius of Steve Novak, the Grilled Cheese and Crab Cake Co. features the culinary expertise of Steve and Tom Novak. Together, the team specializes in the freshest crab cakes, seafood, and of course, delicious varieties of America’s favorite, the grilled cheese. Featured on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives – Guy Fieiri has his list of favorites on their menu as well as his own creation “The Triple D Melt”.

The Melt Factory Grilled Cheese
28 Morris St, Morristown; 973-998-8588
Grilled Cheese at the Melt Factory is only as good as the quality grilled cheeses that they serve. Choose from one of their 23(!) signature Panini Grilled Cheeses or create one of your very own for a killer sandwich that can’t be beaten!

Namkeen
233 Main Street, Chatham; (973) 701-8744
Was I expecting a place known for their hot chicken to be recommended for grilled cheese? No, but I’m glad it was. At Namkeen their grilled cheese is made with American, mozzarella, and cheddar on white toast.
