Boonton’s First Friday “Bike Night” – May 1
Boonton Main Street, Inc. (BMS) will host it’s first ever First Friday Late Night: Bike Night on Friday, May 1st, from 4-9 PM. Businesses will be open late for dining, shopping, entertainment, socializing, and more. Some hi-lights of the evening are:
– A Community Fun Bike Ride through Boonton leaving from the Post Office at 4pm to kick off the evening. The ride will end back at the Post Office where riders can park and lock their bikes for the evening. Participants can bring their bike helmets into retailers and restaurants in Boonton for discounts and specials.
– Temporary bike racks will be set up in the Upper Plane Street lot, on the Williams Street side of the Post Office, the Division Street lot and the Boonton Train Station lot (202 Myrtle Avenue) for people to park and lock their bikes and then journey into town to take advantage of all that is going on! Main Street will not be closed for this event.W
– William Ruddick of Gran Fondo will be giving two, hour-long talks (6pm and 8pm at the Boonton Main Street Office – 620 Main Street) about his 10 week ride across Canada in 2010 and cataloged in his blog My Summer Behind Bars.
– Boonton Main Street will be running a raffle for the evening’s attendees.

Four Sister’s Winery Barefoot Grape Stomping – May 2

The Toms River Food Fest is an all-day street festival event, right in front of Town Hall. Enjoy a variety of food vendors from seafood to gyros as well as funnel cakes and a beer garden! There are live bands playing all day. Includes FREE children’s rides and bouncy houses.

Bellview Cinco De Mayo Celebration – May 3
Did you miss summer? If you’ve been dreaming of barefeet, soaking up the sun and sipping on sangria then our Cinco de Mayo celebration is for you! On May 3rd we will be featuring authentic Spanish music with a flamenco guitarist, chips and salsa platters (on top of our regular platter menu) and most importantly, Sangria! For the first time this year we’ll be serving up our famous sangria in three different flavors. So bring your lawn chair and some sunglasses and come salsa with us! Perth Amboy’s Cinco De Mayo Celebration – May 3
On May 3, 2015, the City of Perth Amboy and Perth Amboy Downtown Business Improvement District, Inc. (PA-BID), will be hosting the Annual Cinco de Mayo Festival and Mariachi Day by the Bay in celebration of Perth Amboy’s rich Mexican heritage. All are welcome to attend free event that will take place from 12pm to 6pm at the Perth Amboy Train Station. This year’s Cinco de Mayo Festival will feature live mariachi music, cultural dance performances, food vendors and more. Now in its 5th year, the Cinco de Mayo Festival has been embraced as one of Perth Amboy Downtown’s highly anticipated traditions as each year residents, shoppers, and businesses come together to explore and enjoy the Mexican Culture within the City.

Mana Contemporary’s Theorem Opening Reception – May 3
Mana Contemporary presents a dynamic Spring/Summer 2015 program of painting, installation, sculpture, video art, performance, and more. Choice Works gathers some of today’s most important contemporary artists for an exclusive preview of an auction to benefit Planned Parenthood; curator Octavio Zaya selected nearly thirty artists from 15 different countries across a range of disciplines for THEOREM. You Simply Destroy the Image I Always Had of Myself in Mana’s 50,000-square-foot Glass Gallery. Dirty Geometry features twenty-three Latin American artists who explore a kind of creolization of orthodox geometric style; Photorealist painter Yigal Ozeri presents a commissioned series of paintings, drawings and sculptures inspired by Monet’s gardens for Revolution at Giverny: A Return of Women in Nature; photographer David Levinthal uses large-format Polaroid photography to stage female dolls as objects of fantasy in XXX: Noir et Blanc. Ofri Cnaani and Nelly Agassi present Crippled Symmetry, a dual exhibition of pulsating black-and-white video art and mechanical sounds; creative collective Witches of Bushwick unveils interdisciplinary works by seven female artists-in-residence for Kick in the Door. Galerie Ernst Hilger presents recent works by Austrian artist Gunter Damisch in Worlds, Signs of Ease & Density highlighting the artist’s graphic constructions of micro- and macrocosms. In addition, continuing exhibitions include German artist Ewerdt Hilgemann’s outdoor show, Panta Rhei, and a selection of remarkable paintings from the Pellizzi Family Collection.
