Brewery Review: Beach Haus in Belmar

FullSizeRender(4)

I’ve been to a lot of beer festivals lately, and one brewery I’ve frequently stopped by is Beach Haus. They are finally open (hooray!!) so I decided to check them out during their soft opening.

When you walk in the doors, you are greeted by a very reasonably priced gift shop. They have glasses, hoodies, hats, t-shirts…lots of great things to choose from. We(and by we I mean my husband and I) ended up picking up a growler (64 oz) to add to our growing collection on NJ brewery growlers.

We ended up going on a tour of the brewery (which was free at the time), which really covered everything going on at the brewery from production to bottling. It was a great tour, I definitely recommend it.

The tour ends at the tasting room where I saw this piece from my pal, artist Corey Hudson:

Since the building used to be Freedman’s bakery, the wood used it this piece was salvaged from the original construction. Pretty cool!

We purchased a flight of beer ($7.50 for 4 beers) so we could try a little bit of everything. Here is what the currently had on tap at the time:

Beers I tried while I was there:
– Parade Day – Irish Coffee Stout ABV 7%
– High Side – American Blonde Ale ABV 6.7%
– Herb’s Rye – American Wheat Ale ABV 4.5%
– Station 2 Station – Porter ABV 6 %

Everything we tasted was great. I am definitely partial to the High Side. I also recommend the Winter Rental (which is seasonal). I’ve had that a few times at beer festivals. It gets a big thumbs up.

We also picked up a FRESH 6-pack of the Kick Back Ale, which we didn’t taste beforehand…but we’re glad we bought it.

I know this brewery is going to be hopping (pun intended) over the Summer. They are a brewery that is proud of their Jersey Shore roots, and they are located in a prime location in downtown Belmar. If you need a food recommendation, definitely check out 10th Avenue Burrito! They’re walking distance from Beach Haus, and their burritos and nachos (pictured here) are good carbs before you start drinking!
