Colonial Diner in Woodbury – Review
The Colonial Diner in Woodbury was a diner I had heard a lot of great things about, so I was looking forward to going there. Note: This should not be confused with all the other Colonial Diners in NJ (they are not owned by the same people, it’s just a popular name).
When I went, the diner was going through a lot of construction, but it is still a cool looking diner. When you walk in they have a really nice dessert case, which you think about the entire time you are seated. You can tell the new decor for the diner is going to look really nice. I really liked the lighting fixtures!
I went there at lunch time without eating breakfast so I was craving breakfast, but my eyes could not deviate from the section they labeled “Spud Central”. I love french fries, and they had a whole list of fun fries. So, against by better judgement, I decided to get the “Buffalo Spud Mountain”. It consisted of fries, 3 buffalo chicken tenders, bacon and shredded monterey jack and cheddar cheese.
I decided to split this with my husband, and it ended up being way than more enough food. So, I was full after eating the fries even though I had additionally ordered…
Red velvet pancakes! I ordered a short stack of the pancakes because I was SO excited that they existed. I did not anticipate being full after the fries (which I ate as an appetizer) so I ended up eating a bite of the pancakes (which they refer to as hot cakes…but to me they are always pancakes) and taking the rest of the home. I even got to take home the cream cheese sauce!
This diner has an awesome menu and I really appreciate that it’s open 24 hours. Also, major props to them for being open while they’re undergoing construction.
I enjoyed my time there and I highly recommend it.
