Yo Sushi USA Opens in New Jersey
Last week I was very fortunate to attend the grand opening of Yo Sushi at Mall at Short Hills.
As you can see, food goes around the conveyor belt and you can choose what to grab. Each colored plate has a price value, and your total is added up at the end. The sushi you see in the video was sample sized for the party (Meaning I ate A LOT of different sushi) so expect bigger portion sizes on your visit.

They even have their own original roll, the “Yo Roll” which is premium salmon, avocado, masago (smelt roe) and mayonnaise.
You also get a server at the restaurant, so you don’t need to grab food off the conveyor belt (although it’s fun!). If you don’t like sushi, they do offer lots of other options. They have appetizers, salads, tempura options, teriyaki options and much more. For a full menu, click HERE.
It was definitely a new experience and I really enjoyed the food and the environment. It’s a very cool looking restaurant and I am confident it will do well.

YO! Sushi (www.yosushiusa.com), the wildly popular restaurant brand, which already operates 87 branches worldwide, opened its third U.S. location in The Mall at Short Hills in New Jersey on October 28th, with plans for more openings in Tampa, FL and Woodbury Commons in Central Valley, NY before the end of the year.

If you had told me back then that I would return to this mall twenty years later, I never would have believed it!”
In 1997, YO! Sushi opened their first conveyor belt-style, fast-casual sushi restaurant in London to critical acclaim. The interactive – and super fun– style of eating is perfect for busy shoppers who are in a rush, but still want to have an enjoyable dining experience. Dining at YO! Sushi is easy: Guests simply take a seat at the bar or in a booth and grab the neon plates from the conveyor belt as they pass by. The plates range in price from $3 to $7 with each color corresponding to a price.

With over 80 freshly prepared dishes, YO! Sushi has something for everyone including its signature sushi as well as cold salads, hot dishes and desserts.
The conveyor belt is refreshed every two hours with a collection of traditional and innovative sushi offerings including:
- Assorted Nigiri The basics: Yellowfin tuna, salmon, and cooked shrimp;
- The Yo! Roll The signature and bestseller made with premium salmon, avocado, roe and touch of mayo
- Lobster & Avocado RollCooked lobster, avocado and chive inside-out roll wrapped in pink soy paper with yuzu mayonnaise and caviar.
- Spicy Tuna RollAmerican fave: tuna, scallion, sesame, and tossed with a spicy chili sauce.
- Shrimp Tempura Avocado Roll Crunchy shrimp, avocado, and mayonnaise sprinkled with purple shiso.
The “Hot Dishes” include crowd-pleasers such as:
- Fried DelightsKatsus and Tempuras in a variety of meats and veggies all served with dipping sauces.
- Gyoza All Pan-fried dumplings in either chicken, vegetable or shrimp served with a soy and vinegar dipping sauce.
