Comfi in Old Bridge: Review

A little backstory on my history with Comfi, a somewhat new breakfast and lunch spot located in Old Bridge…

Before I moved to my current house, I was living in an apartment literally walking distance from this spot while they were building it. It’s in small shopping center so I didn’t think too much of it.

THEN I started seeing photos of the food they were producing and it peaked my interest. Recently it was listed as one of the best brunch places in all of New Jersey, so I knew I definitely had to check it out. However, the first time I tried to check it out it was PACKED with a literal line outside the door. This was on a Sunday. So yesterday (Wednesday, Feb 24) I decided to go when they first opened to ensure I would get seated.

I have always maintained the belief that some of the best restaurants are the ones that are “holes in the wall” (not flashy, not big). This is definitely true when it comes to Comfi. The restaurant is cozy and has cute decor all over the walls. The service was kind and speedy. They also have this very cute breakfast counter, giving it a diner feel.

We were there at 8am, and we came hungry for breakfast. They have a GREAT menu for breakfast, and it took me a very long time to make a decision on what to get. They have everything; omelettes, french toast (challah french toast, my favorite), egg benedicts, blintzes, pancakes, skillets, homemade iced tea, hot chocolate and much more. They also have lots of Polish specialties including kielbasa, pierogies, and potato pancakes.

Here are just a few of the items I was going back and forth on:
– Elvis French Toast (French toast stuffed with Reese’s peanut butter and bananas)
– Strong and Sexy (Potato Pancakes, eggs, kielbasa, scallions)
– Cross fit Egg White Omelette (diced grilled chicken, feta, spinach and onion)

Eventually I decided on getting the Nutella and fruit pancakes (I chose strawberry) and opted not to get the whipped cream. I decided to get the full stack since it was only a $1 more, and my waiter warned me that that the pancakes were big. He was not wrong.

These were SO good and each pancake was massive. I barely ate one of the three before packing up the other two. It was definitely worth it though. Homemade pancakes from scratch with Nutella? Can’t beat it.

My husband got something on the menu that I was close to getting with is actually called the “I am Still Undecided Breakfast”. Clearly this is an issue that a lot of customers are experiencing. It came with a choice of meat, eggs, 1 pancake, 1 french toast and breakfast potatoes.

He *almost* ate everything on his plate which I was impressed by. The pancake came home and was eaten for lunch.

Overall, I am  very impressed with my visit to Comfi. The food was great, the restaurant was cute with a positive energy, their menu has something for everyone and their price point is super reasonable for the amount of food you get. I was really glad we finally got there! I definitely plan to go back, their lunch menu looked incredible as well…
