White Rose Diner in Linden: Review

A NJ Diner with Celebrity Reviews that’s been featured on the Travel Channel? That’s one of the things to know ahead of time when visiting the White Rose Diner in Linden, NJ.

The White Rose Diner stands out because it is a 1940’s stainless steel diner that has been an NJ spot for decades. The diner itself if very small and cozy, so it’s not great for a group outing but it’s perfect for a quick bite or take out.

The diner has been around since 1967 and their owner, Rich Belfer, has been at the helm for over 25 years.

The diner is known for having fresh, made to order food. They are known for their hamburgers and Taylor Ham (yes, they say Taylor Ham) breakfast sandwiches.

Here are some things that stood out to me on their menu:
– Many, many omelets which are made with the ingredients and home fries mixed together.
– The Porky’s Omelet made with Taylor ham, bacon, and sausage gravy
– Fire Pit Omelet made with hot sausage, hot peppers, and jalapenos
– Their award winning Taylor Ham / Egg / Cheese / Potato sandwich
– Mozzarepas, mozzarella cheese sandwiched inside corn bread
– Hamburger Steak Platter, a double large hamburger with salad and fries
– The Parkway Burger made with Chili and Nacho Cheese
– Fish & Grits, Fresh Fish and Hot Grits Made with Southern Charm
– Homemade Potato Leek Soup

Although it has a lot of options, it’s a fairly compact menu that won’t overwhelm you. Plus most of the food is made on the griddle so you can see your meal being prepped. Pretty cool!

NJIB Tip: Bring cash! The diner does accept credit cards, but it’s an add on fee to your bill. The food is so cheap there that if you bring $20 it should cover you and a guest.

Of course I had to get a burger. They are known not only for having one of the best burgers in the state, but they’ve been nationally ranked in books and magazines. White Rose Diner ranked No. 17 on the annual list of the best burgers in the country on the Daily Meal.

I opted for their famous sliders, which included 5 mini burgers or 3 combined burgers if you’re looking to save some carbs.

The burgers are made with a smashed meat patty, with onions and cheese mixed in. The burgers are topped with ketchup and pickles, but I opted out the pickles since I’m not a fan.

The end result…happy burgers! I was concerned I wasn’t going to finish this meal on my own but because they were so good I wanted to eat them while they were fresh. I’m very happy with my choice.

With fans from all over the state including Chef Bobby Flay, the White Rose Diner should definitely be on your NJ Diner List!
