Wellness Wednesday Feature: Mettamade Pop Up Yoga

Looking for a yoga class that is far from typical? Be sure to check out Mettamade which brings fun pop-up yoga classes at unique spaces all over New Jersey.

Mettamade was born when Jennifer Hansen, a certified RYT200 yoga instructor, felt the need to spread more good in the world and have a hellagood time doing it. Hansen believes her classes are perfect “for a social, mindful, and magical experience unlike any other”.

The word “metta” is a palli word meaning a sincere wish for the welfare & genuine happiness of all beings. For Hansen it means love, friendliness, and kindness – something you feel within your heart, and something meant to be shared. Her goal is, first and foremost, to always bring the community together.

Every pop-up yoga event that she hosts begins with a metta meditation. In doing so it brings awareness into the space; to encourage students right from the first moment to spread loving kindness to each other throughout the time they spend together.

What makes Mettmade different is that classes aren’t held at a studio. All of their events are held at unique spaces that change how students generally believe a yoga class has to look. PLUS classes are good for any level of yoga!

After the classes students and clients don’t need to roll up their mat and run out! Because of their setting, everyone gets to know each other afterwards over a glass of wine, a beer, mimosa, or a communal brunch depending on the location. The cost is included in the yoga ticket.

Another special option that Mettamade offers is “Sound Off Yoga”. This is a unique and innovative journey of flowing movement and sound. To the outsider, this is a silent combination of movement and breath. To the practitioner, the headphones provide a sound vibration that inspires, empowers, and revitalizes the mind/body/spirit, allowing transcendence at a whole new level.

Additionally, Mettamade has recently started working with a carefully curated collection of vendors who offer amazing items that compliment the vibe of each event. It gives students the opportunity to learn more about the practice with local companies and brands who specialize in items that compliment the yogic lifestyle like gemstones, malas, leggings and essential oils.
